The Rockets have shown no indication that they are open to trading Yao (who has two-years and $34 million remaining on his contract) or firing Adelman (who has one-year and a team option remaining on his original four-year deal). Yao is a cash cow for Houston, and the idea of dealing a 28-year-old franchise center would seem absurd. But several executives feel that the Rockets will see what the market is for Yao at the end of the season. "They would be crazy not to at least ask around," an Eastern Conference GM said.

interesting and worth discussion. The Houston front office would be crazy to deal Yao... Unless they got Ray Allen and Perk  ;)

good idea trade our HOF SG and our above average defensive minded center for an overrated, slow, overpaid, injury prone yao ming. although Perk would be perfect for them cause he's from texas... but overall id classify this as horrible idea.

Yao is worth too much money to Houston.  I doubt they ever trade him.

They will try to trade McGrady and fire the coach, but they won't trade Yao.  That would be stupid.

Houston has a better chance of advancing in the playoffs with Yao than with McGrady.

The amount of money Houston makes because of Yao's marketing and worldwde appeal is unbelieveable. There marketing value for their franchise is $168 million which is easily in the top ten in the game. Losing Yao and all the overseas marketing value that would go with him would be a fascal nightmare for the Rockets. For good or bad, the Rockets jumped in bed with Yao probably will have to stay there with him for quite some time.

The Rockets should consider shopping Yao Ming this summer. They face an uncertain future and have no idea how well Yao will age.

Still, it's highly unlikely they get a good enough offer to make it worthwhile giving him up.

Why trade a franchise center when your team is fighting fora home court playoff spot without their best wing player (when healthy). The Rockets have had a great thing going for the past two years, they have three phenominal pieces in Artest, McGrady (again if healthy), and Ming, rather than trading Ming they need to fill in more pieces around these guys.

I think you only trade Yao if the team believes Tracy McGrady is unable to get back to his best.

And also if the team is unable to replace Tracy McGrady - something which looks very difficult if they're not able to trade him, especially with the uncertainty of how well Yao Ming will age. How many years can you afford to waste while trying to replace McGrady?
