So my girlfriend lives in RI, where I am originally from.  Every weekend, I make my way down there from the Boston area & normally we go out to dinner/movie, dinner and say go to a place like Dave & Buster's, or to dinner then go back to her house to watch a movie.  While this is all good stuff, it does get old if you keep doing it for 3-4-5 weeks straight. We've gone to 2 Celtics games this year, the last Patriots game of the season up in Buffalo in December, so we do some fun stuff. However, outside of that, the routine seems to be stuck in this pattern of just going to dinner & a movie.  It sucks because it is currently winter, thus meaning no mini golf places are open or there is nothing really to do that is outdoorsy, like going to the beach.  I mean, we could go bowling, shoot pool, go to a place & have a drink.  I'm 24, she is 20, but she has a fake ID.  Anyways, its kind of difficult to decide what to do because she says no to a lot of things...ie, bowling, pool, getting a drink...its as if she complains we do the same thing all the time, but when I try to think of other activities, she shoots them down.  I've mentioned ice skating, sledding/tubing, but still, "no."  Anyone have any ideas?

Oh, I believe that statement, as well.  It's not really myself who is becoming bored with the dinner & the movie...its basically her.  I could honestly care less what we do.  Dinner & watching a movie in bed together always is great, because, well, we are together.

My wife and I dropped the kids off at school this morning and went for breakfast.

Mostly dinner and a movie these days though.

Since you go to Rhode Island, why not go to the Newport beaches? Or you could go to the Middletown beaches. This is even good when it's cold out, I've done it many times myself. Try taking her on walks through some state parks. You could always hike through some trails too. You could also catch a show at Lupos or at the Providence Performing Arts Center. Since you're from the Boston area, why not take her to some nice museums some time? This will be beneficial for you, because it's a nice date and you can show off your vast array of knowledge. Anyway, like I said before none of these things really matter. It's not what you do it's who you're with.

haha, I'm sorry Edgar.  I liked your recs, I was thinking of the comedy skit idea.  There is a comedy club in RI, I recall.  I also went on to the website for the town of Newport, I found this event entitled "Astor's Beechwood  Murder Mystery." I guess its one of those tours where someone is supposedly murdered & you have to try to gather clues and question suspects around the mansion...basically a real life version of Clue.  I mentioned it to her, she seemed pretty upbeat about it.  I'll keep fishing for other stuff just in case this plan folds or I may find something better.

Maybe a shooting range, I took my fiance skeet shooting at LL Beans 15$ tour things (Freeport, Maine), and she had a blast shooting the shotgun and hitting clay targets.  They also have kayaking, archery, and one other thing that escapes me.

Of course these are better suited for spring and summer.

In high school I once had a date who refused to go see the movie I, Robot with me. She instead insisted on playing mini golf, and it was incredibly boring. Girls can be picky, picky, picky. When a girl doesn't want to see Big Willie it's time to break up...

check out carabiners in new bedford not to far from providence. I know they at least use to do $5 friday nights, prob still do http://www.carabiners.com/

Also the best pizza I have had in N.E. is Casertas right off Atwells ave. which is also in the Federal Hill neighborhood and has lots of good Italian joints.

But having lived in both citites make her come to Boston, much more things to do, much better bars, museums, and easy to get around and wont get bored in a month.
