So, based on Hollinger's Playoff odds, what do you guys think the chances are for each team to win the championship this season? Here's what I think...

Lakers    29%
Cavs      26%
Celts     24%
Spurs     11%
Nuggets    6%
Hornets    3%
Heat       1%

As much as it kills me to say, I really think the Lakers and Cavs have a better shot this year. I really just hope we get hot at the right time, and the Starbury signing pays off.

And Friday's game is a MUST win, which will be tough if we don't have KG.

If we had the better record would you feel more confident? The Cavs are not the juggernaut that people think they are.

Assuming all teams are healthy.

This is how I see it...

Lakers 32% - Basically a lock for the finals, and stern is the commisioner.

Cavs 28% - They have a good chance of making it to the finals, but I don't see Stern letting Lebron top Kobe yet.

Celtics 32% - We finally have a bench, and can beat any one in 7

Spurs  8% - Only team out west that has what it takes to beat LA, but it's still a long shot.

Not a chance for anyone outside of these four...

I'd be interested to see what his odds were last year.

If we had a better record than we do against these two I would feel more confident. Last year we owned them in the regular season and slid by them in the playoffs. This year they have beat us in the regular season. We no longer get the benefit of the doubt on physical play from the refs. These teams are both better than last year. We are at best the same. His odds are probably about right. If I had to bet my life on who was going to win it I would do it on either the Lakers or Cavs before us. Cleveland would probably be my odds on favorite. Underestimate the Cavs at your own peril. The NBA needs Lebron to win a championship.

That's exactly my point. We haven't played too well against these teams even with a healthy KG, so it definately worries me a little. Obviously, you know who I'm rootin for. But I don't get the same feeling I was getting last year around this time where we owned the rest of the league. I hope I'm proven wrong.

We are not playing as we did last year, but I believe that is due to us not being as intense on D. I said in another post that we will turn that on in the playoffs. But I do not see the reason to be so afraid of the cavs. Respect them yes, but not fear. If we keep our TO's down, we can play through the bad reffing and we will beat them, but we cant do both. We would have beaten LA both times this year if we took care of the ball. But we didnt and the rest is history. Having Marbury will give us the added scoring we needed off the bench. If he can contribute at least 15 and our stars dont go into a slump, we will not need 7 games this time around.

I think both the Spurs and Jazz could knock off LA. I really do.

In the East, I could see it going either way with Cleveland. They could be an unstoppable force. But they could also succumb to the pressure. Last year, Boston had that weird funk where they got psyched out about road games in the early rounds. In that sense, Boston had extra pressure for that Cleveland series. It wasn't until the conference finals against Detroit that they got their swagger back. So, in a Boston/Cleveland rematch, I see Cleveland having more pressure than last year and Boston less pressure. I think Cleveland will have to play out of their minds to beat Boston in the playoffs. I do think they are capable of it. But I think Boston learned a lot about how to gameplan for LeBron and Kobe. That's the thing with LA and Cleveland, shut down their one superstar and they're toast. In contrast, if you shut down any one of our Big Three (or Four), you've still got the other Two (or Three) that can totally punish you.

I'm nervous as heck about Boston getting past Cleveland. But at the same time, I'm totally comfortable about this team's ability to get back to the Finals.

Surprised that the Jazz are less than 1%.  I would imagine they have a shot...

I didn't really take the time out and make this list, just off the top of my head. I also forgot to include the magic who probly have a better shot than 1%.

I dont think LA is a lock for this. SA has a real legit shot at knocking them off if they are healthy. At least if Bos doesnt make it the finals will be over quick and the rehab for all of us will start sooner.

You're so full of poop. Championships don't have anything to do with Stern. If you think that Stern decides who wins the championship why do you even bother watching nba? And I also think (and hope) that the Jazz and Spurs can beat the fakers.

I'd put odds something like this:

Cleveland -- 32.5%
Boston -- 30%
San Antonio - 17.5%
Los Angeles - 15%
Orlando - 4%
Other - 1%

I really think whoever comes out of the East is going to win.  I think if Boston or Cleveland meets LA in the finals again, they'll win.  San Antonio matches up a little better with the East in my opinion, but the Eastern teams still need to be the favorite.
