I have always felt like Isaiah Thomas and company went on a character assasination mission when Marbury went 'against the grain' with the Knicks organization. I think Marbury handled a bad situation very poorly as well. This was a battle of egos between two knucklehad guys that would not back down. Marbury was doomed to lose from the beginning though because Knicks management, the NBA and the sports media sided with Thomas for the most part.

Doing good (great) things for the community is a measure of Marbury's character and I admire him for that. Battling with the Knicks organization was just a plain old bonehead manuever and I blame him for poor judgement on that. I view him as a guy who is a class act on one front while coming across like a punk on another.

Is Marbury a good teammate? Is he going to be an better guy going forward since he left the Knicks organization? Will a fresh start make a difference in his behavior? Is he only being a good guy because he is playing for a contract as some people think? Who really cares? As long as he plays well and helps the Celtics win another Banner this year, I am fine with him.

The rest of Stephon's issues will work themselves out in the future. We already know the truth about Isaiah Thomas. He is no prize as a GM, coach or team executive. Larry Brown hasnt done much in a few years, especially since he had a pre-built team of veterans to work with like the Pistons, so he has very little credibility in many peopls eyes. These two very likley did try to change Marbury's game and maybe they had ridiculous expectations of him.

Or maybe he was just their 'Naive Little Scapegoat' to blame for their failure?
