Is it me or is Perkins hurt? I've been watching the past few games and it seems to me like he just isn't the same. There's been absolutely NO consistant production from the big man. In my fantasy league, it stated that look for the big man's production to increase with the loss of Kevin Garnett. His last few games are less than 10 pts and about 7 rebounds. You would think that he'd be more of a force but it seems like something is wrong. Does anyone feel the same?

The C's need to go to Perk a little more in the post.  He seems to play better when he's involved in the offense as well.

your fantasy league totally miscalculated the effect of KG's injury on perk. Perk plays much better when kg is next to him, that's all there is to it.

Perfectly said. The man is not the same bumbling idiot he was for the first couple years in the league. He has multiple moves down low now and needs to get touches right away just like Ray does. If not he tends to fade away offensively. When we get him some looks down there his whole game improves and his intensity raises up just a bit more than usual. He should be a force for us there and we often overlook it.

I thought they should have went to him a bunch more against Detroit.  He was schooling Rasheed, but he only go six shots. :-\  You are right, he tends to have a little pep in his step when he is involved offensively.  Probably makes him feel like he's really contributing a lot more to the team.

he was schooling rasheed, so good to see him develop.
i think perks intensity turns up (to 11) in crunch time no matter how many touches he get, though touches amp him up earlier.

love that perk and rondo are here to anchor the future...

To me, Perk has definitely seemed off his game the last few weeks, despite the occasional game with decent stats.  He just doesn't seem like the same guy lately.

To me, he seems to lack the sense of aggression that he used to play with.  Total guess, but I think he's still thinking about his shoulder issues and seems less physical and somewhat tentative.

I also think that Perk now has a rep as something of a rough house player, and that the refs are not allowing any physical play from him.  Combine those two things and you get what you see right now.

Along those same lines, I think the team as a whole has the same physical reputation, and the refs have been calling the Celts a lot closer than they did last year, or even at the beginning of this year, and it seems to have effected our defensive aggression a bit.  Understandable since if you don't adjust, you'll foul out.

I think he's just avoiding getting technicals... so he's being more mellow.

I'm sure Perk is all broken up about messing up your fantasy stats.

He's the same Perk - he's still rebounding, defending, etc.  Fact is, though, that with KG out he's now the best defensive big on the team, and that's a big load to carry.  Unfortunately, that's sometimes a Catch-22.  He has to bring more defensive intensity to the floor, and he HAS to stay out of foul trouble or his team becomes very short on the back line very quickly.  Some nights he figures it out, and some nights he gets in foul trouble real quick, or worse yet, he stays out of foul trouble but Doc doesn't play him anyway.

Offensively, he doesn't get the benefit of KG being doubled by the other team's two big men, which normally opens Perk up for easy uncontested dunks.  Perk's points come from ball movement and the opposition focusing on KG, who, incidentally, does a lot to facilitate ball movement.  Without KG on the floor, we're seeing a lot more "give it to Ray off the curl and watch him drive or pull up for the midrange" than we did earlier in the season.  The spacing just isn't as good without KG (or, interestingly enough, Scal) on the floor.  BBD doesn't require the same attention that KG does from the outside..no surprise there.

All that said, Perkins looks un-injured out there to me.
Good food, like good music and good love, always requires a little sweat in the making in order for it to be truly memorable.

i don't know, he looked good offensively against Wallace, but he isn't the same Perk that i saw before he went out with his shoulder injury. Maybe he'll be back to normal when his pal gets back.

You're talking about a guy who's averaging 8 and 8 on the season, so if anything those stats just show that Perk has been fine. I'm not sure why people think Perkins hasn't been playing well. Besides picking up silly fouls setting picks, Perk has been contributing to the team in a positive way most of the season, including lately. Obviously, the best part of his game is his defense, and that can't be measured as easily by stats. He's having a career year in terms of blocks, and had 5 against Indiana on Friday. Also, he looked very good operating in the low post against Rasheed on Sunday, hitting 6 of 8 field goal attempts on the day. Obviously Perk is going to look better with KG next to him, but that's no fault of his. Lately, Perk has been the same old Perk, and I don't see anything wrong with his play at all.

i think perk and kg compliments each other really well, as they seem to be a little off when the other is missing
