Last Saturday night early Sunday Morning in Phoenix Arizona. I spotted Gabe Pruitt at Diamond Jacks (DJ's)gentlemens club at around 2:15 a.m. Sitting on the stage with the dancers when I walked in. I was cool about the guy enjoying himself & having fun & hanging out, but a little thought crossed my mind saying I know Gabe just played against Utah the game before & why would he still be out this late knowing shoot around is probably around 9:00 a.m. for a 12 noon start? With that thinking I totally assumed he must be inactive with a injury or Doc simply informed him he wouldnt be playing in the game that was going to be taking place in just a few hours. Well Gabe stayed out in the strip club until 5:00 a.m. FIVE! And the minute he checked in the game Sunday I was cursing under my breath at Gabe for being such a idiot & apparently not caring about his job at all. He must have not gotten any rest & played halfway intoxicated that afternoon. He check in the game at the end of the 1st, let the quarter expire by not shooting with time running out & instead passing it backwards with tenth's on the clock. Opened the 2nd quarter by letting his man blow right by him, & on the very next possesion turned the ball over before DOC realized he didn't have it that day. But I know why! 5:00 a.m. FIVE! And that is just what time he left the club & who knows what he did afterwards. That equates to less than 4hrs sleep before shoot around begun. So all in all Gabe gets NO 3rd chance from me after this DUI incident & he needs to grow up & take his job a little more serious! We had just loss to the Clippers, THE CLIPPERS! Who goes out celebrating after that crap! I hope Gabe just loss his playing time to Bill Walker or J.R. Giddens because I cant trust Gabe anymore. Maybe that is why Danny & Doc are luring Marbury because they also cant trust him! I gave Gabe the benefit out the doubt last week by not saying anything about the incident in Phoenix, This time I give him no such luxury.

If this is true, and I assume it is, then you are 100% dead on. With this DUI he should be off this team. That sheds a whole lot of new light on the situation!

It is absolutely DEAD-ON! I love my Celtics, but we are trying to win another title & we dont need to count on people like this. Im even fine with just sending him back to the D-League for punishment, just get him out of that lockeroom!

As with all rumors, please take this with a grain of salt.  The staff has no reason to doubt the story, but it also hasn't been confirmed by another source.

If every NBA player was shunned from the league for this type of behavior there would be no players left. Nonetheless, let's all start bashing Gabe! I saw him selling drugs on the corner of third street last week!

Here's another reason: Gabe is gullible on the Internets:

http://dailytrojan.com/2.1596/1.210699

Apparently before a Cal-USC game a Cal student tricked Gabe into IMing with him under the alias "Victoria"

"The two chatted, exchanged phone numbers and pictures and agreed to meet up when the Trojans returned home from their trip to the Bay Area.

The fan, who must have had a good deal of time on his hands, (guess there's nothing fun to do when it's pouring rain half the time) created fliers mocking Pruitt, with a transcript of the conversation and some pictures he had sent. He even changed his own voicemail to that of the assumed "Victoria."

Throughout the game, Cal students heckled Pruitt with chants of "VIC-TOR-IA," while Pruitt cracked a smile, half in embarrassment and half in disbelief as the entire section let loose during his first trip to the free throw line. "

Still don't think we should cut him, but the evidence for general dumbassery is piling up.

If this is true, I am leaving the Gabe is a good kid ship. I tend to listen when Mike Gorman says things, so that's my basis for that line of thinking.

Drinking on a night before an afternoon game is not an excusable offense for a player on an active roster. Especially someone with someone who has so much to lose and to gain.

On one hand, maybe the DUI will wake him up, and on another, maybe this guy simply has a character issue and needs to be released.

Rumors are just that Roy! Facts are facts! I have zero reason to lie on a kid, remember I still root for Celtics that are no longer here including Gerald Green. I know what my eyes seen & he shouldnt not have been there that late the morning of a morning game. He was sitting on stage, that is not beeing very incognito! Thats being Gerald Green basketball savvy STUPID! I live in Phoenix so I only know what happened here, I dont care or know what happened in L.A. lastnite or want to know details because this apparently is not his 1st encounters of dumb actions.

Drinking on a night before an afternoon game is not an excusable offense, but as per your comments in another thread, breaking the law and driving drunk is?

I'm not leveling a thought on Gabe's future with the team one way or the other at this point, and I tend to think I'm about as "eat-breathe-sleep basketball" as they come.  But after reading the other thread, that sort of...logic...is jaw-dropping.

The DUI is one thing, but him staying out the night before is no big deal.  He knows he doesn't get a whole lot of burn.  He assumes that any time he does have is going to be taken by Marbury starting Friday.  The guy just probably wanted to go out and blow off some steam.

Should he have done this?  No, but professional athletes do this kind of stuff all the time.

You all are professionals in whatever you do.  Can everyone here tell me that they haven't gone to work after a long night out?  The fact that he didn't have to be at work until 9 a.m. seems like a good enough excuse to go out and have a few drinks.

Well, I can tell you as a manager, if I found my employees out drinking just a few hours before needing to be at work, they would be on VERY thin ice.

yea no kidding, drinking and driving is "living alittle" and you tell us to quit being such wet blankets, but drinking the night before an afternoon game is inexcusable?

wow....
