I'm very curious if the cop pulled him over because of reckless driving or if it was just because it was a nice car. If it was reckless driving, then I'm fine with all the Gabe hate.

Like you guys never made a mistake when you were 22...some people need to get off their high horses.
Actually, there's a whole lot of people in this world (in fact, I'm sure it's a majority), whether 17, 22, 35 or 80 that never make mistakes like this one. There's no high horses about it. People who make mistakes like drinking and driving deserve the opportunity to make amends and right the ship. And I believe it is morally wrong to make outcasts out of people who make these kinds of mistakes. But to suggest that it's somehow "natural" or "normal" or otherwise acceptable on some level to make a mistake like this, is just plain false.

Why is everyone jumping the gun here. Gabe has been arrested on suspicion of DUI, he has not been convicted. While I understand most DUI's are straight forward cases in a court of law Gabe is still innocent until proved guilty and some of the accusations being made against him here are completely egregious considering there could be another side to this story. I know it's not likely but it's possible.

true, and i hope we are jumping the gun because i liek gabe alot. nothing would make me happier, but generally when, according to reports, you get hauled down tot he police station for the night and your car gets impounded, its because you failed the breathalyzer.

and since the breathlyzer is pretty air tight, its hard to argue you weren't drunk.

According to the report I heard, he failed the field sobriety test and also had a blood alcohol content "well above the legal limit".

It doesn't sound good.

I just don't think it's stupid enough to change his status within the organization.
...
Orien Greene was let go because he wasn't very good. Telfair had a gun and was sober. This is completely different.

I don't think it's necessarily very different.  There absolutely is a different double standard when it comes to starters / rotation players vs. guys at the end of the bench.  Pruitt has no room for error, and since by cutting him the Celts could save $1.4 million next season, it wouldn't shock me if this incident was the tipping point in an internal evaluation.

spoken like every person who's ever killed someone driving drunk 5 minutes before they leave the bar.

So are you denying that there is a difference between being shattered and being over the legal limit, yet still able to function properly?

The whole point of the legal definition is that any BAC over 0.8 is legally defined as "impaired", and thus unable to "function properly".  There are obviously higher levels of impairment at higher BACs, but 0.8 is the legal standard where illegal impairment begins.

I'm denying that you have the capacity to really understand your limitations.  Sure, there's a difference - but if you're impaired, one of the first things you lose is an understanding of how impaired you are.

Honestly, I sure as hell hope you live nowhere near western MA.  This attitude of "it's ok, I'm just a little buzzed, big deal!" is disgusting.

If he failed the sobriety test, then he's in trouble.  This probably means he was tanked.  You can pass a sobriety test after a few beers or with a good buzz, but if you're tanked, you aren't passing one of those and you need to be tanked to fail one of them.  All you do is walk a straight line heel to toe and stand up on one foot and count.  Was it a dumb idea for him?  Probably, but to be honest, I'm more worried about how he plays on the court.  I could really care less about a player's personal life, unless it's affecting his play.

im denying the ablity of anyone who has been at a bar to properly judge there own soberity level, yes.

Do you honestly think anyone who's ever hit someone driving drunk hasen't thought they were "just over the legal limit?"

and what is so hard about getting a DD, planning mass transit (if avalible), calling a cab, or a friend who will come grab you, ect, ect?

I drank pretty heaviliy in college around town every weekend, as do most of us, and never drove drunk once, or even "slightly over the limit". It really wasen't that difficult to take half an hour to figure out how not to be a moron and drive while intoxicated. Nor is it any tougher now at 25.

and no, i don't feel like i missed out on "living alittle" because i didn't risk killing someone at worst or a DWI at best. its not on my bucket list.

Guess these are just fundamental differences and that arguing over them is rather senseless.

Going to go study the reasons behind why 9/11 was an inside job...bbl.

If this eventually leads to Pruitt being fired and the team using his roster spot to sign a competent wing backup, then maybe it was all for the best.

Maybe you and Gabe can share the same cell. What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. Can you please tell everyone on here the bars you frequently visit and the routes you drive home so we can stay away?!

The problem is that if you're over the legal limit, there's a good chance you won't be able to properly judge if you're shattered or not - you may not even notice or understand how affected you are.

Plus, a BAC over 0.8 indeed affects your ability to drive cars.
