My opinion is that it's just a matter of time before Steff concludes that his vast array of basketball skills are not being used to their full capabilities.  I don't think 15mpg will be enough for him to make the impact he is looking for (enough impact to get a fat new contract next year that is...)

How long till the honeymoon ends?

if we win a championship with him playing 15 a game, he gets paid next year.

dont know, i cant read crazy people.

the part of me who thinks marbury knows this is his last chance to ever earn another nba contract says he can be a good soilder off the bench for 3-4 months if it means he gets a payday and a starting role somewhere else.

but the part of me that knows steph is a few eggs short of a dozen has no idea.

guess i shoulda put a selection in there for, 'prior to signing'.

Asked about his role with the Celtics, presumably to back up guard Rajon Rondo, Marbury said, "I'll just let my game speak for itself."

come on, i dont like the guy, but how is that a tantrum in any way, shape or form?

all he said was he was going to let his court play do the talking. what did you want him to do? fluff rajon for 2 minutes?

Thanks crownsy, you've effectively ruined my day.

It may not classify as 'tantrum' but what I stated in the OP was that he will quickly find that 15mpg off the bench isn't enough for him.  In this quote, he is implying just that.

And I don't buy the whole, 'he wasn't asked directly about backing up Rondo' thing, we all know exactly what his role is suppose to be on this team.

i think your taking your dislike of marbury, which admittedly i share, and running with it. thats a pretty good stretch on a comment about letting his play rather than his mouth do the talking just to assume he's a scumbag and ment he thinks rajon is a scrub who should sit.

If he had said it more like "I don't want to answer that right now, i will let my play do the talking for me"

would you say the same?

@grover- I gave you a TP to ease the pain heh.

I am honestly optimistic.  I've had time to think about this for months as all of you have and I just can't see a downside to this for anybody.  We are giving him the chance of a lifetime to contribute on a championship team in the NBA and as a bonus for helping us get # 18 he'll get a great contract from somebody next year.  He can be cut loose at any time, so for us, it's a no brainer.

As for the subject of tantrums, mark it down that I said this...He will be a great teammate on this team. He knows his time with the C's as a backup will be short and he will do everything he can to contribute and show that he is not a malcontent.

As for the subject of next year, mark it down that I said this...He will be Starbury all over again on somebody else's payroll and we'll all just be laughing if his short stint here yielded a banner.
