We're full so unless we cut someone I guess we're sticking with Moore.

Yes, I'd say the signing of Moore signified the end of the Joe Smith conversation.

Talks with Smith would be tampering unless OK City has given him permission to talk to other teams.  He hasn't been waived yet.

I'd really be shocked if he's bought out at this point.  Has there been ANYTHING substantive to indicate that he's either looking to get bought out or the Thunder is looking TO buy him out.  Isn't he the kind of good-guy veteran you want around to help the kids?

...unlike talks with marbury while he was still a knickerbocker, obviously.

If the Sonics cut Smith in the next week or so, I can see them taking a real hard look.

New York gave other teams permission to contact Starbury.  As far as any of us know, that hasn't been done by OKC, although who knows?

The recent rumors are that Smith won't be bought out.  We'll see.

There is no motivation for okie to keep him unless they plan to either resign him or sign and trade him, which is unlikely since joe wouldn't have that higher trade value and secondly it's doubtful any other team would be motivated to try and trade for smith, since they could probably offer him more than enough money using the MLE in the off season.

Secondly there r teams out there that would offer joe above the vets min, so he would be motivated to give up some salary, not to mention the added bonus for him to be able to showcase his skills during primetime/playoffs, just before him hitting free agency.

i doubt 33 year joe smith is in the long term plans of the thunder, therefore a buyout would make too much sense for it not to happen.

I'd take him if he was bought out, but I don't really care anymore at this point.  Mikki wants to play for a winner and wants to be a Celtic.  It appears that Smith doesn't care whether or not he sits on the bench for a lousy team or plays for a contender. His nonchalant attitude could be a reason he never lived up to his #1 potential. I like that Mikki at least cares about winning and it shows in his play with the way he gives it his all.

i really doubt he go back and resign with the thunder in the offseason, not to buy him out would be a bad bussiness move by the thunder

the other reason could be that joe is not willing to give a penny, which also be a bad bussiness move, since him performing in a playoff run, would increase his value in free agency, and there are teams that would probably be willing him to offer him quite a bit of $$$$.

OKC coach doesn't want Smith to be bought out.

Good! Now the Cavs can't have him. 8)

Danny Boy must have known that Smith would not be bought it out. He jumped quickly to get Moore and must have had a gut feeling about Starbury. It almost looks as if he knew that Moore would come here before the release was even announced.

2 years and 2 pickups after the trade deadline. It is good to know the luck of Irish is shining on us once again!

I'm sure Ainge has had some conversations with Smith's agent.

I have to guess that nothing is going to happen. Otherwise why would they be waiting so long to reach a buy out agreement?
