HBO is doing a re-showing of the first season on demand.

The second season is a little dark for me, and Varenus's fall just depressed me, but man oh man that first season is just freakin spectacular. I watched the entire movie "The Punisher: Warzone" just because Titus Pullo was the punisher.

This show is just magic, HBO has got at least 5 of the top 30 dramas for Television between Oz (best acting I've ever seen on TV, but sooooo dark), The Wire (#1 for me), Rome (20-30's), Deadwood (10-20's) and Soprano's (top 10).

The combination of character development, plot twist, great acting..its just an awesome show.

I would put both Rome and Deadwood top five myself.

This, like The Wire, Deadwood, Sopranos, and OZ I think masterfully does what many shows now are trying desparately to accomplish but usually fail in. That is, it carries like 12 plot lines simultaneously, and effortlessly. No one story suffers for the existence of another. Ateia, Seviliia, Caesar, Anthony, Pompei, Brutus, Pullos, Varenus, Octavian, they all have their own thing going on, and dance beautifully between each other's lives. Rome does it particularly well, because there really are like 10-12 interweaving plots.

In some interview about Punisher, I remember Ray saying something about a possible Rome movie being on the works, or at least some interest in making one. That would be great, but I myself am more interested in a continuation for Deadwood and Carnivale... both of those series ended in awful places. With Rome, at least I'm happy with the ending, but certaintly would love to see some more of it.

Varenus is dead, which makes me somewhat less excited about it. But Pullo will be worth it.
