Hey all,

its 3 years with the same girl (I need congrats right?) - but really - I want to take her to an inn/b+b or something like that, we tend to enjoy those things - we've done the sugar hill inn, in Franconia, and it was great, but don't want to go to the same well twice - the back of my mind has the Woodstock Inn - we've eaten there before and it was fun, but not sure about the accomodations....

any ideas from the faithful cb community?

Can't help you directly, but we almost went to the Woodstock Inn (the Woodstock Inn/Brewery in NH, right?) for our fifth wedding anniversary last year.  I've got some buddies out on Boston that have gone up there with their wives and loved it.  They do a "Brewers Weekend" that I was really interested in, and it just looked like a really cool place.  But, we ended up going out to the Finger Lakes instead, so what I know about the Woodstock Inn (all good) is secondhand.

EDIT: Here's the feedback I received from some peeps in the area:

thanks for the info bird - are you a homebrewer? I've dabbled in it, to little success - but I don't know how down she'd be with the brewer's weekend, but the place itself sounds very good

Yeah, although I haven't been able to brew in four or five months.  Fun hobby, nice always having good beer on draft.

But, the inn looked cool even short of all that.

Hey all,

its 3 years with the same girl (I need congrats right?) - but really - I want to take her to an inn/b+b or something like that, we tend to enjoy those things - we've done the sugar hill inn, in Franconia, and it was great, but don't want to go to the same well twice - the back of my mind has the Woodstock Inn - we've eaten there before and it was fun, but not sure about the accomodations....

any ideas from the faithful cb community?

a co-worker of mine just stayed here:

I have eaten at simon pearce...Excellent food.   pretty cool ambience and decor also.   And the food isnt 'that expensive' - pretty expensive for the area, butif you were in NY or even Boston you could expect all the entree's to be at least 10 dollars more.

This is just me but I've always wanted to go to that Inn in the TV show Newheart and Ben + Jerry's HQ, but I guess that's Vermont. Also just over the boarder near White River Junction is a truck stop called P+H Truck stop that came in third place nationally for best truck stop in America on that History Channel show about American food. Good Eats or something. But don't take her there for anything more than a detour.

Two great recommendations in southern Maine: the Stage Neck Inn in York and the Cliff House in Ogunquit. The former is a smaller, more intimate place with phenomenal food which can be included in a package. Dinners are superb and Sunday Brunch is the best on the southern coast. The Cliff House is larger, but more elegant, with a great 3 story atrium looking out at Bald Head Cliffs. It is a bit more formal with a little pricier menu, but not by much. It also has a spa with the full treatment for the ladies. Good luck and happy anniversary.
