I'm pretty sure that "heavily protected 2nd round pick" would protect Sacramento from a top 5 pick in the 2nd round.

then i misunderstood that, so who do you think we'll take in the 2nd round of the 2015 draft?

......whoever he his he's like 15 years old right now

unless the kigns are very good, we dont even get the pick.

they would have to finsh high enough that they got worse than the 55th pick in the draft.

I really dont understand why there werent any stories all year on the situation with cassell and i find it even more strange now that he was traded. if he was here in a mentor role why trade him? if he was here as insurance why didnt he even see the court one time - like when house missed those 2 games? seemed weird that neither the globe or herald ever made anything of his situation this year

Yeh...The whole thing was curious.  I was never dying to know details, but I would have thought there would have been a little something mentioned here or there about Sam.
Yup

Guys, we'll never see the picks. They are too protected. It'll be a long time until the Kings are relevant again that the 2nd round pick will be low enough for us to get it.

Become Legendary.

2015 2nd round pick that is heavily protected? That has got to be the funniest thing I've ever heard in NBA trades.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

I still wonder if something was closer to happening in the past 48 hours than we know.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Danny was to have waived Cassell, it would have taken 48 hours for him to be officially off the roster.  Since he traded him, he was off right away.  Maybe Danny was convinced something was going to happen in less than 48 hours on Tuesday that would have required him to have a roster spot open.  That would account for the bizarre trade.

As I think RH noted on the front page - the trade allowed us to trade away some cash, which lowered the amount on our payroll that counts toward the luxury tax.

That is, Wyc saved money, and the Maloofs got some outta the deal.  Win-win.
God bless and good night!

I get that, I was just wondering if the 48 hour thing factored into that.  Anyone know?

Wait, wait... Did I miss something or is it really a 2015 pick? Or is that what you guys are just expecting it to be because Sacramento sucks and they put protections over it?

Nope, that's the deal in the Cassell trade (not sure what the Will Solomon deal brought)
Yup

what was bizarre about it? we washed a contract off the books for less than it would have taken to cut it outright, and the kings made money.

It was pretty much money laundering with contracts instead of drug money.

Hm. That is kind of interesting that we would trade for a pick 5+ years down the line. Wonder if there was anything going on where Danny would just tell them to take Cassell for anything.

Since he was on a 1 year contract, didn't he have to consent in order to be part of a trade? If so, he must not be too upset since he would have had to have given his consent.

Correct.  He's uncharacteristically quiet, so you know something's up.

He's def cool with it too - so Danny is working his magic...
God bless and good night!
