Wally has been playing pretty well.  and I'm not so sure I'd waste his expiring on someone like Posey.  Offer Wally and JJ Hickson and you could probably get Vince Carter.  Or, if Vince is not your cup of tea, offer the same package to Toronto for Anthony Parker and Jason Kapono.

The Cavs don't need any scorers.  They need glue guys.   Posey is the one of the best, if not the best, glue guy in the league.  Also, do you really think that Posey wilts in the spotlight of Game 7 like Wally did last year.  I doubt it.

The acquisition of Posey also frees up Lebron on defense as he no longer would have the chore of expending energy chasing Pierce around on defense.  Posey is a huge plus over Wally for the Cavs in my opinion.
Did Posey just invent a new position?  Glue Guy.

I don't see how Posey is better than Wally. Posey has become one of the most overrated players in quite some time.

The players have been almost identical from an offensive end this season, but Posey is a much better and more physical defender.  He's also a better locker room guy (although I haven't heard of any problems in the locker room with Wally in Cleveland).
Which is why it'd be silly to trade for him. They could have signed him for the current contract if they thought he was that valuable. I really think they'll either trade Wally for more of an impact player or stand pat. Why spend so much money when Posey isn't a huge upgrade?

Well, I agree that a trade is unlikely, and I further agree that if Cleveland valued Posey that highly, they simply would have signed him.  Posey's deal would pose problems for their future cap space, etc., and he's probably not a great option.

That being said, for this season, he is a fairly large upgrade over Wally.  Equal offense + much better defense = better player.

Who's LeBron going to cover while Posey covers Pierce? KG? Ray?

Depends on the line up. If Posey is at the 2 he'd still defend Pierce. If he's at the 3 and LeBron is on the 4 LeBron would have KG or Powe.

The first problem with losing Pose was our own loss of a physical wing defender who could shoot well and was unselfish. Losing a guy who could help wear down Lebron and Kobe. The second problem was/is the fact that losing him means he can become a competitor and do this to us/Paul. And the third problem that folks haven't talked about since summer is that we lost him over the 4th year of his contract, not the first three. Signing him to that deal didn't mean we lost all options. We could have traded him for little or nothing next year or used him as an expiring contract the year after. We never HAD to live with that 4th year. It meant we would have had him this year and next year and then had a decision to dump him then for little nothing or the year after for more. But it would have guaranteed we had him for the last two years of Rays contract.

My gut is that Posey would mean more to us than to the Cavs.  Would not be devastating if they got him, although I would prefer they did not.

Who would ever trade for Posey after next year? Nobody's going to want to pay off the last 2 years of his contract. You could only reasonably trade him in the 4th year without paying someone to take him, and you could only trade him then if you want a bigger, longer contract.

The Cavs are not getting any of those players with possibly the exception of Jefferson and he is probably going to end up in Portland.

As for the glue guys, the Cavs have plenty of scoring in Lebron, Williams and Big Z.  Who is there lock-down defender?  Lebron?  Lebron not having to guard Pierce on defense is huge.  Even Lebron said at the conclusion of last year's series that he wore himself down chasing Pierce around.

where is posey playing offensivly during this stretch when he and bron bron are on the floor?

if he plays PF, thats a huge mismatch for us with KG down thier.

If he plays SG, Then im not to worried about him, because he can't drive, so ray's defensive assingment will be relitivly easy.

I dont think they get him, though this would make them better and suck on a personal level. but as someone above me mentioned, im alot more fearful of them getting an impact 2 or 4 than a bench player who's primary back up position is behind a guy who plays 46+ in the playoffs.

I would look at this as the lesser of two evils.  Even though he is an upgrade over Wally, if all the Cavs come away with from Wally's contract is Posey, then I breath a big sigh of relief.  He definitely makes them tougher to beat, but he doesn't scare me nearly as much as someone like Camby or Jamison.

I don't see how Posey is better than Wally. Posey has become one of the most overrated players in quite some time.

Since when has he become overrated? Since he was a top3 player in a 50 wins team or a top5 player in championship teams? I suggest you to read Michael Lewis recent NYT article about Shane Battier. And what exactly can Wally do as well as Posey? Shooting off the dribble, I guess.

Posey would be a great fit paired with LeBron. I'd rather see the Cavs getting Camby than Posey. They getting Jefferson or Jamison would be worse for us.

they don't really need to get much better in order to get HC and be a tougher out for the Cs....and that's really the only thing that matters...

would it be worse if the Cavs got RJeff or Camby? yeah. but Posey makes them better, especially when CLE is hanging their hat more and more on defense.

If you acknowledge that Posey makes them better on defense over Wally, then I don't see why bringing in Posey would be a cause for concern...

I aggree with the people who noted that this will allow LeBron a bigtime breather from guarding Paul.

a breather might i add that Paul ISN'T going to get because who else do we have to throw at LeBron? Marbury?

It's gonna be all Paul which could really hurt his scoring in key games....
