  • Let's Go Celtics
I thought we were like Doomsday over here with some of our threads and posts.  NESN's Celtics Blog is getting to be a little over the top for me.

Their headlines being advertised on this site have been absurd.  After the two home losses they had "Garden of Despair" with a picture of KG on the ground looking like he just got shot.  We lost two close games to two good teams, two we could have and maybe should have won.  However I don't think that makes the Garden a place of despair after the success we've had over the last year and a half including only one loss in last year's playoffs.

After the All-Star game it had "Shaq and Kobe Embarrass East."  I wasn't embarrassed for the East or the Big 3 after that game.  It's an exhibition.  Shaq did what he did best, put on a show for the fans.  Kobe did what he does best, take by far the most FGAs and scored the most points.  It was a fun game to watch, not an embarrassment.

Now they're calling the Cassell trade a mystery.  I understand the reasoning for keeping him, but it also makes a lot of sense to do the trade too, especially if we make another move.  They brought that up in the article, for about 2 lines.

What's going on with that site and the negativity, are they hoping the Celts go in a tailspin just in time for the Sox season to start and their ratings to go up?
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

My guess is, Comcast Sports has just the opposite reporting.

NESN covers Sox and Bruins, it pays for them to have people less interested in the Celts.

  • The good ole days.
I posted a thread about this a while back after their "Big 3 Choke" against the Spurs.  The general sentiment was they are definitely going the sensationalist route to get page views... but I agree with you.  They are walking a fine line between sensationalism and irresponsible "yellow" journalism.

Oh yeah I forgot about that one.  That might've been be the most ridiculous headline of them all. Thank God this site wasn't advertising that site during the 2-7 stretch.

The new one: "Is Moore Really More?"

I can't wait to see what they put together for Marbury--
"But Does He Mar The Franchise?"

Oh, NESN... How I loathe thee. I was going to make a thread about it, but I got lazy.

I was flipping through the program guide and they actually had Atlanta Hawks programming with some Jen or something as host... Certainly raised an eyebrow from me.

It'll be interesting to try to predict what it'll be, I'm going with:

Can the C's handle Starbury?

im not really suprised all the shock headlines are up there, this is the same company (nesn) that debuded the "clutterless cam" during the C's playoff games last year, a camera that did not include the scoreline, which they then only sdhowed at the begning and end of innings.

They said it was to reduce clutter for the viewer, and mabey it was, but how odd that it started during a time when people were only flipping back to sox games to check the score. The removal of the scoreline almost seems like a ploy to make them stick around a few minutes until someone mentiones the score  ::)

NESN is a joke, it has as much journalistic integrity as the Weekly World News.

my favorite lines are always the ones they use to introduce the red sox. For example a past one was "the year to be here" Tp for anyone who remembers the especially corny ones that preceded that.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Don't diss the NESN ads too much...  I'd hate to end up with Tyson chicken (or one of those weird credit or weight loss ads) full time.

The NESN ads are a blessing.  At least they're discussing the Celts.
