Assuming a neutral climate and that both sides show up to win, would would win in a fight, a full grown male polar bear or 100 meerkats?  Please support at least one reason why.

I need more specifics.  Will the meerkats behave naturally, or will they just beserker fight to the death?  Also, the polar bear's got a big advantage underwater - will there be water present, or just dry land?  And will the meerkats be wrapped up in any reality-show style family drama that might lead them to mistrust each other and distract them from the battle?  ;)

There's strength in numbers and the meerkat is a renowned for their team play.

Tough one.  I'm not sure that the meerkats, despite their penchant for team play, would know enough to get together for the cause of taking down a polar bear, but assuming they are of like mind to view the polar bear as a target (and not make for the hills, or the holes as it were, as soon as they see it - which seems more likely  :D), I'd side with the little guys.

Big assumption though.

Yup

100 of them, isn't that just like a platter of pigs in a blanket for the bear?

see, the trick would be to get them to actually attack the polar bear instead of just warding it off somehow

Both sides will fight and behave naturally, but as if they know their life(lives) depend on it.  Environment should not play a factor...ie: desert praries would not be good for the bear, ice and fridgid water would not become an avantage for the bear.  One must assume no environment, only two combatants ready to fight until one side proves victorious.  And no, no reality show drama, just the real drama of a fight for their life.  Assume the 100 meerkats are primed, ready, willing, and able to work as a cohesive unit against the larger and stronger bear.

Gotta be the bear then - the bear's hide is so thick the meerkats would have trouble getting to anything vital.  If the bear protected its eyes and genitals, it could kill them in waves then turtle up to rest while they tired themselves out trying to claw through blubber.

One T-Rex or 100 Lions?

If they behave naturally, polar bear no debate.  If the meerkats are rabid it will be closer.

I think the lions would win in a landslide.  A T-Rex isn't THAT much bigger than the lions... and they could pounce high up onto the legs to bring it down and finish the job.  I might bet on 20 lions vs. a T-rex.

How about a giant sal****er crab (same size as an elephant) vs. an elephant.  They meet on the beach.

Well, the T-rex is an expiring deal, so I'd expect a buyout...

The battlefield runs red with meerkat blood. Half of them get trampled the other half end up as polar bear poo.

Lions destroy the T-Rex, they can jump high enough to get on his back and it's a wrap from there, once the T-Rex falls, the Lion pride leader looks to the sky, roars and says, "Tonight We Dine in Hell!!!"

As for the crab, if it is just a giant version of a crab, at first I want to say the crab due to it's claws and aggressively defensive nature. However, we must remember that though giant, this is a crab, the elephant charges, the crab raises it's claws too high to attack the elephant's head and ends up flipped over on it's back. Game over for the crab, the elephant takes it's time stomping the life out of the crab, mothers cover their children's eyes, souls are changed, it's an ugly brutal display of nature.

Now for mine, this is one that has always perplexed me.

One silverback gorilla, or 10 vintage Mike Tysons in their prime. The Tysons would be attacking all at once with full aggression, zero fear, who would win?

Woah, woah, woah! I didn't know it was a solar bear, those things get stronger with the suns rays, they are unstoppable. Solar bear in a landslide!
