Everytime I see a vary tall person like 6'4 or over their usually skinny. I never see a person of that height that look anything like Diwght Howard or Lebron James. Their usually look more like Kevin Durant, Manute Bol, or Reggie Miller. So why are their any other skinny NBA players like Durant if his body type seems to be more common?

Durant is ultra-skinny.  That's not necessarily the common body type for someone that height.

There's not many humans Kevin Durant's size, nevermind those with the makeup and the basketball ability.

Are you trying to say there is some juicing going on? Cause I agree, but also the better frame guys are selected for in the NBA (not to mention NFL) and the workout regimes of the NBA move you towards the meet-ier end of things, even sans juice.

Two Points:

1) You don't see many players like Durant because most guys his size don't play SG or SF.  They play inside so they have to be bigger to survive. This is why Durant is set up to be a legendary scorer in the NBA. There are a few exceptions, but it's hard to be a skinny guy around 7' any more, unless you have a jumper or something.

2) Across all sports athleticism has reached new heights. Just look at Dwight Howard.  Imagine Manute Boll going up against Dwight? LeBron might be the fastest player in the NBA and he's 6'8" and 250 lbs. It's a new era.  Guys who were skinny back in the day probably wouldn't be now because they would have to lift.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Most guys that size play in the post, and need to be stronger than Durant.  Durant's speed and athleticism allow him to be that size...other guys that size aren't quick enough to do what he does, and since they can't bang in the post, they don't make it to the NBA.  Check out any lower level college game (low Div-I and below) and you'll find tons of guys with similar frames.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

There were plenty huge guys in the past.  They weren't all like Manute Bol.  There were plenty of guys like Mark Eaton that would make Dwight Howard look puny.

Of course there have always been big guys but Bol wouldn't last at all in the current NBA is my point.  On top of that, while Eaton was a giant he is not the athlete Howard is.  Where he was a huge guy, Howard is jacked.

Overall the league is much bigger now.  People lift weights when that didn't use to be a focus for the sport.

I think what you don't realize is that most of these guys are very thin in real life.  They appear to have a lot more muscle on TV, but if you ever meet an NBA player in person you will say wow these guys are skinny.  There are only a few really big NBA guys out there compared to the NFL where 6'2" linebackers weigh 250lbs+.

Normally I'm not a fan of calling out other people's grammar, but this made me laugh.

EDIT: Possible explanation for those who wonder how JR Giddens has any tommy points. A moment ago I went to give Brick James a tp, but clicked on "giveth one" under JR Giddens by mistake.
