oh my god this dude needs to shut up. he made the 3 point contest so annoying arguing with everything that reggie miller said. asking him what's the best 3 point field goal percentage he ever had for a year just so he could say he did better. sometimes it can be somewhat entertaining when guys talk a little trash but kenny smith is fone of trying to rewrite history that he was this brilliant player, a guyn who knows how to win, what it takes to win etc. "there's 3 things you need in order to win a championship.." good teams to 4 things in order to blah blah.."
he makes up these formulas of what it takes yadda yadda. nobody else in the world knows what these things are cuz kenny just makes them up on the spot. brillaint ideas like playing defense, taking the right shot, being a leader blah blah. somebody please shut this guy up.

kenny, EJ and charles are the funniest broadcasting crew out there...kenny's problem is that he NEEDS charles next to him.

hopefully chuck's sobered up by now and they get him back in the saddle...

i can't deny it. you're right. they are entertaining together. i can't stand both barkley and kenny but ej is the moe of the stooges that holds it together. i'd love if they goit cedric maxwell on there though to call out charles and admit his celtics hate.

Absolutely agreed with AJ in general, and the point about Charles' absence is a big one.

But as for Saturday night, right with ya, cornbread - I thought Kenny was uncharacteristically bad.

I like Kenny on Inside the NBA, but he's always bad during the all-star weekend.  It wasn't just because Barkley wasn't there.  He tries to hype everything up way too much, and make the things that are happening bigger than they really are.  He also wants to get his voice heard immediately after big dunks because he knows they'll be replayed over and over again, sound byte and all.

right. it's like kenny thinks these things are really important.  it's supposed to be just a fun exhibition. he considers himself an nba pioneer of sorts because he was the first guy to bounce a ball off the backboard through his legs. lol

He would know more than Reggie what makes up a championship tema. For that matter he knows more than Charles.

I don't mind Kenny.  He is alright.  But I am still mourning with the NBATV move to ATL and therefore changing my favorite crew - which included PVecsey.

Kenny was nauseating talking (and drooling) over Dwight Howard in the dunk contest.

when comments are being made like "so and so should be in the 3 pt. contest" and "lebron needs to get into the dunk contest" - the all star weekend festivities began to take a turn toward who is NOT here vs. who actually is here...

i sensed the announcers lamenting this and i think it had an impact on the direction their thoughts took.

there is a difference between studio highlights (kenny's strength)...calling an actual game (reggie miller's strength)...and being an emcee for the nba's version of entertainment.  they should have just hired that clown from detroit (their public address guy) and kevin "mr. hype" harlan to do all star saturday night.

bottom line...it was dreadful.

I actually prefer Ahmad Rashad, GP, and Webber on NBA TV.

Thanks for mentioning the obvious attempts to have their names forever linked as a sound byte to a highlight.  It is soooooo sad to hear a guy actually trying to put his stamp on history like they have practiced it in the mirror while shaving.  Mike Breen anyone?
