on air maybe a month ago? Well what happened to that plan. Just because we won another 12 straight doesn't mean we are guaranteed to repeat this year. We have, after all, lost the last two home games to legitimate teams. And those legitimate teams might prevent us from winning the chip again this year. I know what you are thinking - great idea, no practical solutions. We can make room. Forget Marbury and Horry at this point. Why not trade for a Nick Collison, or a Joe Smith, or at PG a Raymond Felton. There are some names available, and in this economy some teams are looking to dump salary. Scalabrine's and Tony Allen's contracts expire in 2010, which is only a year from now, and we have some young talent too that we could afford to mortgage. Radical as it may seem, sometimes the best GMs make their mark with their courage. There's courageously stupid, but courageously courageous. Yes.

The sky is falling! We're one game better than we were last year! Really! It's falling! This old team has played more games than any other contender!... I think a piece of cloud just hit me...!We arguably should have had 4 all stars! The sky is falling! We need to trade all our depth for Raymond Felton, that will make the sky go back up!

Modified per mods request.

I would take Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine over Felton or Nick Collison. You may not be impressed by the bench on this team, but frankly I see a second unit that plays almost exclusively together, which shouldn't dominate against the iron of the other team, but once the rotation is shortened come playoff time I think we're fine.

If it aint a quality, experienced big man... I don't think it's worth trading for.

And honestly, I don't know who fits that description.  Signings!

I take Collison over Scal
I think we really need some changes
specially on 3 * if u dont give Walker a chance to develop or he grews really fast or Scal lose 40 pounds in 2 weeks, and 5
PG can be a problem under final pressure when rondo fouls or tired.

For me this is simply not a championship team bench and they already show signs of it
against prime teams.

I think we just have to disagree in this one if youre confortable with the bench but if we dont disagree in something, what a boring world huh  ;)

I want to see more of the interesting line up Doc was playing with before the concussion with Scal at the 4 and Baby at the 5 with Ray Eddie and Pru. I think surrounding Baby with shooters is a great idea and it keeps a modicum of defense in the game.

I also agree with the poster above, I don't think there's a move to make but rather signings to make.

We have no real assets with which we can entice other teams. All these trade proposals starring Scal's contract and NBDL types isn't going to cut it.

Wyc said he'd like to make moves, not trades. Players who have been bought out prior to March 1 will be the types that come in.

We've got 2 weeks longer to wait, likely more.

I think it is the Celtics plan to make a move.

Unfortunately no other team is looking to help them.

While the sky isn't currently falling because of the two losses to LA and SA, what's troubling is the Celtics' current state vs. the current state of opposing teams.  The Cavs are better than last year with Mo Williams on board and a full year with Wallace, West, and Sczerbiack.  The Lakers are better with a full year of Pau and the potential return of Bynum by the playoffs.  The Magic were better than last year before Nelson got hurt, and still might be better than Detroit was last year (since Howard is a beast).

As for the C's?  The only two really reliable bench players from last year's playoffs are gone.  While everyone likes to focus on Cassell's poor play in the playoffs, the only reason he got PT to begin with was because House wasn't realiable.  Powe and Baby had their moments, but ultimately their biggest weakness (size) will be exploited as we once again will probably have to go through the monster front lines of Atlanta, Orlando, Cleveland, and either LA or SA to win #18.

This isn't good.

Could they win it all with what they have now?  Yes, but they're gonna need to be red hot and need for Cleveland and LA not to be.  Could that happen?  Sure, the Giants beat the Patriots after all.  However, it could be tough over the long haul.

Rondo is playing a lot better this year than last.  That compensates, IMO, for the loss of Posey.  And, maybe I was sleeping during the playoffs, but PJ Brown was mediocre at best.

Wow.

No GM in his right mind would take Tony Allen and Scal for Felton and Nick Collison.
