I don't know if anyone has posted this yet , but the NBA has chosen the participants for the "HORSE" game to be played ALL STAR weekend. They are Durant, Mayo and Joe Johnson.http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/allstar2009/news/story?id=3896766
Is anyone else excited about this? I am and I also think Gilbert Arenas would be perfect for this competition. Any thoughts?

You mean GEICO not HORSE  ;D

Only three people, and no K-Love?

JJ is going to win is my guess.
God bless and good night!

This has a chance to be good.  You've got 3 skilled athlethes and good shooters.  Hopefully, they can be creative with it.

I am on the same page as you "this has a chance to be good".
It makes me think of those old commercials when they through it off the rafters and beyond. Bird vs. Jordan 1993http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlVYMPIucUM

Players will have 24 seconds to execute their shots, and an NBA referee will rule if they're done properly. Dunking won't be allowed.

I know that they want to keep things moving along, but 24 seconds seems a little short to set up some of the potentially good shots.

I would be interested to see Kevin Love in here but I'm happy with the people that they got.

At least it's legitimate players and not the guys who had nothing else to do that weekend.

I wonder if in future years they'd consider letting former greats participate too. I wouldn't mind Larry coming back to prove that commercial wasn't all editing tricks.

I kinda wish the players that they picked had a little more personality.

Still, I think it'll be good.

Huh...  no Kevin Love?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GFGPqdpEAk&feature=related

I guess it's nearly impossible to prove either way, but if I were a betting man (and I'm not), I would put a fair amount of money on the notion that the Kevin Love trick shot video is fake. The camera angle is such that the ball disappears at the top of the screen every time - and to me, the delay between when the ball leaves the screen and when it re-enters seems just a bit unnatural. Also, why in the world is there a black curtain all around the key? Because it's probably hiding the crane lift that's holding the first guy who is catching the balls from K-Love and the second guy who is shooting a different ball into the basket - all of which is taking place just above the viewable frame. A well-executed stunt indeed.

But Love does have the full-court shot thing going for him.

I can't say that Durant and Mayo have me all that excited. Joe Johnson maybe. I guess I don't have better suggestions (except maybe Nash), but it seems like they could have done better with the players they selected.

BTW: How incredibly obnoxious is the guy in this first video?

Very, very obnoxious.  Which makes it pretty apparent (if the cut-aways didn't already give it away) that it took multiple takes for Love's trick shots.  They were impressive shots.  But not if it took him 10 tries.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
so, no truth to the rumor they're going to instead play O-B-A-M-A?  :)

I'll take Durant to win this.
