Honestly...can we stop talking about Ainge needing to act?

We know.

It's brought up all the time.

Let's start talking about it when something is actually done.

Why should we stop talking about Ainge needing to act? It's talking about the flaws of the team.

these games have to be looked at as measuring sticks and when the top clubs come into your house and beat you, you really do need to think that there are holes in your squad.

we are now about to go on a stretch of 6 straight tough road games. this a huge test.

and don't sleep on the Clipps..now that they are starting Baron, Gordon, Thornton, Randolph and Camby, they are no pushover.

I think we all agree that Danny needs to act, and *most* of us agree that the front office dropped the ball in the off-season.

The question now is, what do we do about it?  I'm fairly discouraged at this point, because I don't see a lot of trade options or other possibilities.  I'd love to add Joe Smith, but he says he doesn't want to be bought out.  Starbury is a potential team-killer, but even if the team wants him, there's no guarantee that he is waived by March 1 (the date he needs to be waived to be playoff eligible).  So, what's the answer?

Its frustrating because we're right there. The SA and Lakers games were both winable but the team didn't execute.

I'm with Roy, doesn't seem like there's much out there that we can do.

After the laker game, I can firmly say that

this celtics team, they way its built right now

cannot, and will not win a championship.

Losing in ot when players on your team are suffering from the flu is probably as good of an indication that we aren't going to win a title as we'll get all year.

we're working in two different threads here, but Scal, JR and a pick could also get us Joe Smith.

then Scal takes a buyout like McDyess did in the DEN deal.

This team needs a backup pg. If not Marbury, then Danny needs to make something happen. I've always liked Earl Watson.

I don't think Giddens has any value (rumors were that the Celts tried to move him both at the draft and subsequently), and OKC would be better off letting Smith walk, rather than taking on one more season of Scal's salary.

A team might give us something marginal for Powe, but I doubt that it would be a piece that helped us more than he would.

I don't know what kind of shape Pollard is in, but yes, he'd help more than POB.

As for Delfino, isn't he under contract in Russia?  I don't think he'd have much incentive to come back for the money that we could offer him.

I dont think Scal could come back if we traded him away.  If we trade Scal today and he asks for a buyout, he'd have to wait 30 days until he could resign with us, by the time he could come back it would be past the March 1st deadline for playoff rosters.

If he was bought out before March 1, he could sign with another team prior to the playoffs.

However, I don't see much motivation for OKC in that trade.  Why take salary back in a trade for an expiring contract?

I'll be surprised if the Celtics make a trade before the deadline. I thought Danny was waiting to pick up FA? With the chips they have I wonder what they can get back in a trade. Any ex-Celtic GMs out there willing to help? With the way Celtics have accused of getting KG for nothing I'd love it if they actually got a steal this season.

Where has Gabe Pruitt been?  Why no burn?

Because I don't think Pruitt could do much to prove to Doc that he'd be ready to run the team in an important playoff game.  And if they aren't going to play him in the playoffs, there isn't a huge point in giving him a ton of minutes now.

Plus, I think that Cassell will eventually get worked in.  When that happens, Pruitt will be even less significant.
