I strongly dislike when after a game, there are extreme overreactions by a certain group of posters.

"big baby sucks" "go with powe" etc. etc.

Over the past month, Glen Davis has really earned his playing time with a lot of hustle, good defense, and generally he has been knocking down his shots.

Yet, he has one bad shooting night, one, and everyone attacks him.  Mostly because Powe was having his first good game in a long time.

And while BBD wasn't hitting his shots, he was still playing well.  He had a couple of good hustle plays, used picks to set up Ray for a couple of threes, didn't take too many shots (I feel that he actually could have put up a couple more earlier), had a couple of good rebounds, as well as some good passes, particularly a beautiful assist to Powe.

So before we freak out and say 1/8 1/8 omg omg 1/8 bench him bench him... let's look at how he actually played.  And I didn't think he had a really bad game.

Most people think points = good player.
That is not always true. Sadly, I may add.
I think Doc rides with Baby because Baby
does a lot of little things that "nobody"
notices. There's a reason Doc's the coach
and we are on the outside looking in.

Agree 100%... TP.. he had a bad shooting night, but he actually did hit one to put us up 1 in in the clutch...and putting in powe in that situation wouldve been worse..obviously it would've been nice not to have either of them out there

While I am one of the biggest Baby supporters on this site, I gotta say, Baby played his worst game in about a month last night.  Regardless of his shooting, he just looked very tentative out there for most of the game, and I think the Laker's combination of size and skill really frustrated him more than any other team, other than Portland has been able to do this year.

I agree that he still does a lot of the little things that people don't realize, and I absolutely feel more comfortable with him out there in crunch time than Powe (even though Powe played his best game all year) because of his defense and passing, but let's not get carried away, he did not play a good game.

And for that matter, neither did Perk, who looked terrible out there.  I wouldn't be surprised if we find out he has the flu too in a couple days.

Baby played a good game in terms of hustle and rebounding.  He did not play a good game in terms of scoring.

I can't say it was his fault that he was taking incredibly important shots down the stretch.  Cause it seemed like credit needed to be given to the Lakers D for putting the C's in that position to HAVE to give it to Glen.  I understand he did have one big shot, but besides that, he was 1 for 8 from the floor and just had no shot last night.

With how Eddie was feeling it last night, I say you put him at SG, move Ray to SF, and Pierce to PF and just go small.  But I'm not the coach so there's nothing I can do.

I agree. He hustled his butt off. He always does.  The LA defense forced him to become the hero, and he came up short.  Not his night shooting-wise.

I don't think he played that well. He was tired from playing 41 minutes Tuesday night.  But he wasn't awful either.

Start one up....I'll contribute to that thread!   :)

I think the novelty of Powe has worn off with Celtic fans, certainly those on this board, anyway. Where's Bassthumper when you need him?  Maybe we need to hear "Powe pimpin'" more to get Powe to play better.

Despite his shortcomings, Powe will always be a favorite of mine.  I don't care if he misses rotations (maybe the Celtics should simplify their defense), or if he's one dimensional offensively (Doc, run some more plays for Powe, ya hear?), I'll still follow Powe wherever he ends up.

Regardless of how you feel about stats (I know Roy believes in them, so that's good enough for me), Powe is a mighty effective and efficient player, even when he's not playing as well as he could be. I just think it's hard to develop any consistency when he's playing about as much as he did last year. I know BBD has been playing well and to be honest, I think he's a better defender and rebounder than Powe.  But for the life of me, I can't understand why Powe's stats are better playing less minutes. Anyway, I think the writings on the wall and BBD will be with the Celtics next year while Powe will be plying his trade elsewhere....hopefully for an NBA team where he'll get more minutes. Otherwise, it might be Europe for Powe.

I thought he had a mediocre game, but has been playing well lately. As for the 1-8, just a bad night, he's not that bad a shooter.
But why does everyone keep saying he's been hitting his shots? NO, he hasn't. He's been taking a lot of shots, but I think his percentage from 10 feet out has been awful(someone here will have the percentages, I'm sure). I'm not saying he shouldn't take open shots if they're there, but it would be nice if more of them went in.
Anyway, I love Big Baby. I love Leon too. They can't help it if neither one of them is 7'.

BBD has really grown as a player from last year.  He plays great D for his size, brings a ton of energy, and now provides a hook and midrange shot to his game.  He is still a young player and is still learning, but he is going to become a very solid player in this league.

I just dont see it from Davis. And I didn't see it last night. I hope he has a great career but I cringe every time he takes that jumper. Drive baby!  Drive!

Sorry. I was at the game Thursday night. Big baby was pretty much awful the entire game, case closed.
