This is the first time I can remember Doc complaining about officiating after a game. I have a bad memory, so I'm probably wrong, but still I give credit for standing up and telling it like it is for once.

Nice to see the NBA thinks enough of a Lakers-Celtics game to put three mediocre refs on the job. Has there been a more inconsistently called game in recent memory? Also, what is it with Leon Wood? Where is he from? I would love to see the C's winning percentage with Wood as an official versus other games.

I would also love to see the NBA add another ref. Three is clearly not enough. Even if the new ones are on the sideline watching on tv.

What else could be done to improve basketball officiating?

I agree it's past time. I was hoping they'd complain during the winning streak but I guess it would have been excessive to complain about the referees after a blowout. Its interesting Doc, KG and Ray all had something to say.
What I found disturbing was Pierce referring to the officiating as adversity and not to expect anything from the refs. The referees should not be an obstacle for teams to overcome. Their reason for being there is to make the game fair. As a fan I'm disillusioned and I wonder how the players feel about this.
A lot can be done to improve the officiating but I get the feeling the league doesn't care or doesn't want to.

Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Lakeshow24's shockingly short body of work has come to a close here at CB.

I actually kinda like the "wambulance" image though.

No need for further response...Redz

If the class act that is Ray Allen said it was a foul to the media then I believe it was a foul.  The play just didn't have a flow to it.  He didn't foul him on the shot but he was draped on him for the 3 seconds.

Oh well though.  There was no foul at the end of regulation when we had a golden opportunity to put it away and didn't execute.  The refs were awful, but I saw it on both ends.  I'm not going to use them as an excuse.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

How can you pick on Phil Jackson? Just because the guy had a press conference where he wasn't sure of the name of the player who had just torched his team in the NBA finals? That could happen to anyone.

Laker's end did not lose one of their players based on one of their calls. That was a big impact on the game 6'9'' (that might be generous) Big Baby was the replacement for KG. That was my main problem with the reffing esp. on something as ticky tack as that. I have a hard time believing that Gasol only committed 1 foul as well.

Can we have a retirement ceremony for LakeShow24 like the Atlanta Hawks planned for Rasheed Wallace?

pretty funny though -- still a lowly Laker troll -- but that image was definitely funny.
