I keep hearing all over TV that now the Lakers will have home court advantage for the NBA Finals if the Celtics play them.  Huh? there is still 30 games left, isn't home court advantage determined by the best record? I know if we finish with the same record then they would get home court advantage based on their 2-0 record against us this year, but why is everyone saying they now have home court advantage for the finals when the Celtics can still finish with the best record?

Just proves how completely unintelligent they are or they are completely blinded with their purple and gold glasses on.

You're right:  the only thing last night's game does is give LA the tiebreaker in case the two teams finish with the same record, and then meet in the Finals.

Of course, the worst thing about last night is that it's another loss, meaning the Celts now have one more than both the Lakers and Cavs.

Since the last time the Celts lost to the Lakers they have fallen behind three teams in the overall  best record race, then subsequently regained the lead (despite losing to to 2 of the 3 teams they're battling against).  They're now, what, a half game back?  Does anyone doubt the C's have another long streak in them?  They will still end up with home court advantage.  Tiebreaker be [dang]ed.  The Celts know the importance of home court.

No worries.
Yup

People just need a headline for this mornings paper. In reality it means nothing until the season ends, whos to say the Lakers don't Pull a Mavericks and lose in the first round of the playoffs.
"Sam Cassell was heckling on the sideline when I walked down, He looked at me and was like, ‘You're getting the ball, I know you're getting the ball!'
said Allen.

And did Cassell, a man of many words, have anything to say after that?

"No, I told him he needed to wear a tie."

Yeah, what sucks the most about losing last night isn't losing to the Lakers, it's losing a game in the standings to the Cavs.

I have all the confidence in the world that we'll finish with a better record than the Lakers.  But the Cavs, I'm not so sure about.  I thought they would falter a bit with the injuries to Z and Delonte, but they never did.

Also, there's a much better chance we face the Cavs in the playoffs than the Lakers, so HCA against them is more important.

To be honest, like some others mentioned, I'd be more afraid of Game 7 in Cleveland than Game 7 in Los Angeles.

East home court advantage is the real battle to be won.

very true.

7th game in Cleveland would be a ref-Lebron lovefest.  C's would not have a chance.  Cleveland's going to be a tough out even with homecourt.

exactly. in a season where the top teams are really separating themselves, every loss is a big hit to HC advantage....

i mean, do we really think that any of BOS, CLE, LA and possibly the Spurs are going to lose more than 16-17 games?

Sunday is a huge day for us. Feb is a ridiculously hard month schedule-wise and starting off the month with two key home losses would make it tougher.

also I would love to see LA beat CLE because CLE is starting to become a runaway train in terms of HC advantage and we need someone to derail that.

there are more teams IMO in the West that can beat LA than there are teams in the East that can beat CLE...so i'd like to see CLE get the loss on Sunday.

nice lineup for the NBA on Sunday by the way.

I think the problem against the Lakers would NOT be the home court advantage but the sequence of the games:2 games in LA and then 3 games at home, if we lose the first 2 games I would give us 2% chances of winning it all...winning 4 out of possible 5 games is too difficult... :(

Its stupid all around...everyones talking about it like the lakers have already clinched a finals birth...I guarantee if there heads get any bigger they will get stunned by some team out west and not even make the finals..
That and we have to get through cleveland, the best team in the league to even get to the finals

I think that's why I'm not as afraid of losing HCA to the Lakers.  I don't think we would lose the first two games of the series if it started in LA.  But we're getting ahead of ourselves.  We still have 31 more games to decide all of this.

Lakers need to leave that home court arguments for teams that took the Celtics to 7. They could have lost in 5.
I agree there are many more games to be played and there's not guarantee it'll be a finals rematch. Celtics have to go though the Cavs and the Spurs haven't made much noise this season but they could still win the West. I'm sure they haven't forgotten that no-call on Fisher.
