I would be fine with the Celtics bringing in Bonzi.  Frees them up to trade TA.

I don't think you can trade with the D-league.
God bless and good night!

POB is completely useless. A back-up big of equal usefulness can easily be had in the d-league or off the street.

Cut him and sign Wells. If a lack of appreciation ever crosses his lips, cut him too. One month and counting to use a roster spot wisely before playoff rosters are due...

I'd definitely bring in Wells.  The question is does he make this team better.  The answer is absolutely.  We still don't have a back up 3 and Wells could do the job.  He's not a great outside shooter, but we have enough of that on the second unit.  He also gives them the option of playing small ball with him playing at the 4 with his rebounding ability and his strength.  Ultimately though, the C's should make a move somewhere.  I understand we're 40-9 and with the best record in the league, but they're are definitely holes on this team.

The Celtics have always been trailbalzers.

It's not low because he wasn't released for his play, he was averaging 34 points and considered the "best player to have ever graced the Chinese Basketball Association".

That's not what fans who follow the CBA have been saying for a while. It's been reported he didn't care about defending or doing any other thing besides scoring and that, in spite of him being, by far, the most talented player in the history of the league, he wasn't making his team better - they didn't climb the stands after his arrival.

Why are people so convinced Bonzi can help us? The Hornets needed help at the wings last season in the playoffs and at some point Scott just quit playing him.

We already have one player who has the potential to singlehandedly lose the ballclub an important playoffs game in no more than 10 minutes of floor time or so. Do we really need another one?

Agree with Cordobes.  We know the guy is a head case.  And he is an over-30 player who mainly relies on a quick first step.  There is a reason Scott didn't play him last year.  I don't think the current Bonzi Wells can play like the guy we remember from a few years ago.

Honestly I'd rather give Bill Walker a shot at playing the 3.  As someone pointed out Wells lost playing time last year with the Hornets when the games really meant something and they were already thin at the wing position.   I think Wells is very talented but really we may have only 1 shot at picking up someone for the playoff run (March 1st deadline for playoff rosters) so there is risk there.  I don't think Wells cares too much about team ball or defense and I think at least Walker gives a crap and will try hard on defense.

I didn't realize Bonzi sat a lot last year.  When I saw him play he looked pretty solid.  If anyone watched the C's lose in New Orleans last year it was mostly due to Bonzi's defense on Pierce (4 steals?) and another guy not in N.O.- Jannero Pargo.  The guy is going to be a backup, I don't think anyone is expecting him to be great.  I just like him better than the current backup SF options, Scal and T.A.

Quote
"Since I have been here it has been all business and I haven't had any fun yet, so I am looking for some fun."

That part of the story sealed the deal for me.  I'm a big Bonzi fan - especially when i'm reminded of what he did in the playoffs for the Kings a few years ago - but, if this quote is indicitive of his mindstate, then i'm all set with bringing him into Boston.  His incentive for staying in the States appears to be more linked to his passion for the nightlife rather than his passion for basketball.

Bonzi was not the player he used to be last year...I have a hard time believing that has changed.  Perhaps if the C's trade away Scal and Tony, then they might need to look at guys like Wells...otherwise, they should hold out for someone better, or stick with what they have.

And if they are really desperate for another wing, I would take a look at Bryon Russell (on a 10 day contract) before Wells, since Russell was always a much better defender and shooter than Wells.

i agree about wells, if the guy was passionate about playing competative basketball on both ends of the floor he'd already be back in the nba right now.

as for russell...well...i think we can all agree that the worry about having a capable backup 3 is in regards to lebron.  i just have a really hard time seeing a guy in his 40's being able to come remotely close to staying in front of lebron.....but if hes all thats available by march 1st then why not, as long as he can still knock down a 3

Well, what single player in the league can stay in front of LeBron?

Russell says he's been keeping up his conditioning and strength. If he can keep pace with guys ten years younger (BTW, he just turned 38, a spring chicken compared to Reggie Miller), he might be able to contribute as a defensive stopper with some perimeter game.

Bonzi wells is a poor mans Pierce...I have no idea why he doesnt have a job in the NBA...is he that bad in the locker room? he has come up huge in the playoffs throughout his career as well..he's a couple years removed from averaging 23/12  in a playoff series against the kings and holds the Portland Trail Blazers record for points scored in a playoff game, 45...He must be quite the jerk not to have a job right now
