What would we have gotten for Pierce?

I think we could have at least replicated Charlotte's trade with Golden State (the #8 pick and a huge trade exception), and probably could have at least gotten another draft pick thrown in (maybe Charlotte's #22 pick?)  Under that situation, we could have added Thad Young, Al Thornton, or Rodney Stuckey, and could have grabbed Wilson Chandler or Rudy Fernandez at #22.

Of course, it's fun to think of the possibilities, but I'm very happy with the championship (and possible multiple championships) that the trade brought us.

No one seems to be mentioning that the Celtics would have had Minnesota's pick in the 08 draft. Granted, the pick may not have been a top three because Minne still would have had Garnett. But what if the C's get lucky and Minne still gets that same pick despite having a better record. I think Danny would have drafted Mayo.

Rondo
Mayo
Durant
Jefferson
Perkins

That lineup would certainly be nothing to sneeze at. Durant, Mayo, and Jefferson would be a younger big three. But they would be far more dynamic offensively. Also, the C's would still have Pierce to trade to the highest bidder.

"The Alternate Universe Celtics/w/Durant"

And without a championship. :-\

Nah, they wouldn`t.
They had the protected rights to a Minny pick, but the Wolves already owe the Clippers a protected pick. IIRC, the Clippers receive Minnesota´s first round pick when the Wolves make it to the playoffs until 2012, and the Celtics would have received the Minnesota pick 2 years later (due to NBA rules). That pick was also protected until 2012, after that it would have become a second round pick, which means the Wolves would have to make the playoffs until 2010 and a second time until 2012 for that pick to be a low first rounder.

(I could be wrong about the years, but I think you know what I mean. That pick was pretty useless for the Celtics)
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Durant can't defend a chair, and it's unclear if that will ever change.

Now Big Al and Oden would have been interesting.

Maybe if Oden was any good

right now big al/ durant would be pretty darn special, at least offensivly

What do you mean if Oden was any good? Oden is improving everytime I check in with the Blazers. He already shoots his FT's better than Shaq and Wallace (but not as good as Yao's yet). His only shortcoming is lateral quickness.

And that Blazer are taking baby steps with his playing time because of the injury.

I would still have take Oden over Durrant.  For all the stats he is putting up, it isn't translating into more wins.

Wide Load... pretty wrong.   The Thunder were 7-7 for the month of Jan.   Clearly his stats are translating to wins.  His supporting cast is a joke.  Durant is the real deal.  HIs defense is improving.   He's 20 years old....

Top 5 player in the league by the time he's a 23 year old Free Agent.

Last year, 24% winning

This year, 22% winning.
