I work in a marketing firm out in Woburn, do office crap, very much like the office space movie...except we don't wear ties, its very laid back here... Most days I wear sweat pants & a hoodie, sometimes I'll wear a celtics jersey & jeans.

Always on game days, try to wear one at least one other day a week.  As a teacher, less and less of us are wearing ties at all, but I do think its important to look good. And on game days, my team and I all wear ties.  I do take a casual day (Jeans and a polo/sweater) on Thursdays, b/c Fridays are almost always game day... but today I'm wearing PJ's b/c its a snow day - wooh!

Just a question that came to my mind as I was on my way to an interview.

As a teacher, I rarely wear a tie.  Some teachers almost wear them everyday.  Others, never.

So how about you?

Just curious if the original poster meant to sound like a "Honey's" commercial? You know the one's I'm talking about where they go person to person and they say what they have for breakfast from the establishment and end their rant with the question of "how about you" or "what about you"? Well anyways, it made me chuckle. Oh my that's pathetic. It must be hump day ;D

Ties have two purposes: Marrying and burying.

I can't tell if that's ironic or symbolic.  Just a thought.

I'm also a teacher, first year was last year.  I started wearing a tie daily, but then started feeling overdressed.  Then I gradually began phasing it out until my principal told me to start wearing it again.  Its daily now, but I don't terribly mind.  I just unfortunately feel more professional than personal sometimes.

I wore ties for various co-ops. Nothing like making a 20 year old kid go out and buy a wardrobe full of business dress attire. At least I was handsomely compensated. Depending on where I work this summer, I may have to dust off that part of my closet. I suck at tying ties so I've left them pre-tied. Anyone else do this?

tp for being a teacher - I'm pretty sure its illegal for your principal to tell you how to dress...unless its in the contract...but wait til you have status to rock the boat - I agree, its good to be professional and personal (not too personal though!)

My high school basketball coach enforced all players to wear ties to the away games. We often looked like complete slobs. None of us did the tie any justice with our shirts dangling by the hips, our pants stained with ketchup, and our shoes caked with mud. I never understood his insistence on the tie. The only thing that outweighed the stupidity of the rule was the silliness.

Oh, and sorry to deviate from the subject. But I couldn't resist throwing that story out to the Celtic Blog world.
