Yeah, your'e probably right Hobbs...still, I think 2010 will be a very interesting summer for the Celtics. Ainge only has:

KG:$18,800.00
Perk: $4.3 Mil
Pierce:$21,800.00 ( Player's option )
and like another $1.8 Mil in change.

If he can't land one of the big fishes "on the sell of the Celtics" with KG, and Pierce...seems like he should be able to at least add perhaps a few real nice mid tier Vets to strengthen the bench.

Anyone know the best place to find the complete 2010 free agent list?

Please re-read what Roy has said like 90 times in 90 different threads.

We will not have cap room in 2010.

TP for fighting the good fight, but people will still be convinced ray = super cap space until it doesn't happen i bet :(

Can anyone answer me on when Kevin Durant will be a free agent?  I'd rather have him anyways.  He's going to be a god.
It looks like Durant will be a free agent after the 2010/11 season.

KG would be the only big contract still on the books.  So assuming we sign Ray and Paul to smaller amounts, we might have enough money to bring in Durant.

Would a 23 year old Durant (likely the best scorer in the world at that point) want to come play ball with a 35 year old KG, 36 year old Ray Allen, 34 year old Paul Pierce, 25 year old Rondo and 27 year old Perk?

Lebron wants to be bigger than Jesus. Can Boston arrange for this to happen?

I admit I'm a cap moron. And even though someone has said it 90 times in 90 other threads, it baffles that you can have only 4 players on contract for $40 mil or so and the cap is $59 mil or whatever it is and you have limited flexibility. Seems like you stop paying them, you complete the contract with them, they should be considered no longer employed with you. But I don't get and I hate all that cap crap anyway. Well, if we can't sign  Lebron, hopefully  with four players on contract, we'll enough flex to sign someone along the lines of Potapenko. Put him weith those four and go for the ring.

Re Durant at 23 and wanting to come to Boston to play with 3 aging superstars? I would say yes he would if:

1. He wanted to take his show to a legendary stage
2. wanted to play with  two key and young building blocks for a championship in Perk and Rondo at point and center
3. If he also knew they could add another pillar to go with him at PF...

Yes, I think he's be wise to come to Boston.

That's where Ainge comes in..."on the sell".

Some people would just see Perk and Rondo and three aging superstars. Red/Ainge would hopefully see a championship if he could convince Durant to come and knwoing he'd have his core to add players to...

Yes, we can. He can be like the Beatles.

Well, not quite as big as Jesus, but not a back sideshow.

Is Potapenko even in the league anymore?

For some reason I just cant see Kevin Durant coming here, but he has always said KG is his idol, so theres a start.  If he did I would be the happiest man on earth.

Also, you never know where other players on this team will be come 2010/2011.  Players like Giddens and Walker could have become major players, so it might not be fair to say it would just be Durant and 'three aged stars.'  You never know.

Exactly Greg683x, some of the things I like most about Ainge and what he's done is:
1. How he's managing the cap; he has Ray, PP and KG all coming off in successive years and he also has signed most of our younger and role players to contracts that all expire right as we come into one of the biggest free agancy years in a while in the summer of 2010.

2. As Ray, PP and KG all come off, we will be left with probably the two most important components of winning a ring in Center and Point with Perk and Rondo and they'll both still be very young. Those are always the two toughest positions to fill in this league and these two guys will be the book ends. And Ainge is developing some young guys right now as well:

Perkins / O'Bryant ( I still think he'll be a decent back up in time )
Free agent? / Baby / Powe
Durant? / Walker
Giddens / TAllen
Rondo / Pruitt

So I agree with you re some of these guys improving...Giddens could be as assasin at the off guard. You add a Durant type and a good 6'10" power forward banger and you could be off and running again.
