Though I'd obvioulsy take LeBron in a New York minute if he was willing to come here:

Perkins / O'Bryant / Scalabrine
Garnett / Baby / Powe
Pierce / Bill Walker
LeBron / Ray Allen ( Mid level ) / Giddens
Rondo / Pruitt / House

perhaps the first team to ever go undefeated...literally, 82-0

But assuming LeBron follows the rumors and either A) stays in Cleveland or B) leaves for the Big apple or the little apple in New Jersey, the next guy I'd most want is Dwayne Wade.

Dwayne Wade > has "Celtic" written all over him to me. Just like KG. He's old school, no nonsense and to the floor as a player.

Perkins / O'Bryant / Scal
Garnett / Baby / Powe
Pierce / Bill Walker / Scal
DWade / Ray Allen / Giddens or TAllen
Rondo / Pruitt / House

This team might go like 78-4.

Can you imagine the havoc that Rondo and Wade would wreak in the backcourt defensively...and offensively for that matter? Meanwhile, Perk, KG and Pierce hammering away under the boards?

S-I-C-K

Perhpas Ainge is anling to to be capable of "having a shot" to sing one of these big free agents when Ray's contract is up at the end of 2010...

I have to think there is some way he can get far enough under the cap to be able to.

Best part to me is if he can pull somethign like that off...as KG and Pierce wind down, you'd be looking at:

Perkins / O'Bryant
Baby / Powe
Walker / TAllen
Wade / Giddens
Rondo / Pruitt
You throw another stud SF or PF into that mix and you're rolling again with barely a break between the KG, PP and RAllen run and the next one...

Thoughts?

I not thrilled with back up bigs, so as long as we're dreaming, I suggest we add Bosh also.

I thought this thread would have a degree of realism to it. Sadly I was wrong.

However, for the sake of it I'll say this. We'd move Pierce to the 2, LeBron at the 3 and if we got a back-up to Perk that wasn't worse than Blount v2 then that too would be sweet.

Yes, re back up centers, we'd obviously add a different back up, I was just throwing in what we have right now and mostly focusing on what our core 8 players would be and assuming we'd make the back up Vet min additions...

Why does this thread not have any degree of realism to it? Ainge didn't sign Posey, Ray Allen's contract comes up at the end of next year and he's got nearly everyone else coming off the books the same time as Ray (Powe, Baby, House, TAllen, Scal, Pruitt, Walker & O'Bryant

The only players we have signed right now beyond next season and when Wade becomes avail are Perkins, Garnett, Pierce & Giddens.

What's so crazy to think we couldn't:
A) sign one of the big Free agents &
B) Sign Ray to a mid-level contract to extend his career. He's already had to max contracts and seems like a guy who would love to become part of Celtic tradition / and moving to a classic sixth man role at a lower cost and to help the team keep winning.

We have to sign Rondo, yes but the year after Ray's up so is Pierce, then KG the year after that.

Would Pierce, having also already had two max contracts and championships also consider taking a lesser salary to keep wining and extending his career? I would.

Soi maybe we eat it one year money wise with Rondo, Wade, Pierce and KG...that's workable.

Yea, if we couldn't get Ray Allen at a reduced rate, I would like have Joe Johnson come in and step right into Ray Allen's role.

I think Dwayne needs the ball in his hands and too many shots in order to get his offense. He needs to be the center of a team whereas we want someone who will play with the team. I think 29/30 year old Joe Johnson has just the game we need from the 2 guard spot on this team.

It's funny, my cousin is convinced that Lebrons coming here, not NY, but if I was to dream, I would say Dwayde in Green.

I'm not exactly a numbers guy, but I seem to remember someone saying that if Ray just comes off the books that we won't have the full amount of his contract to just shop with, so he would have to be traded next year before the deadline, which I don't like.

Dreaming about Ray coming off the books and signing for MLE?  I've dreamed about that before. ;)

It would be nice though for Danny to get in the mix and keep our hunt for the banner on, and you know that he will try to get something done.
Truuuuuuuuuth!

Thoughts?

Is there a way a team could go figuratively undefeated?

If I had my choice, we'd all pay more attention to 2008-2009 instead of wondering which multi-millionare will be playing for which team in two years.

That would be virtually impossible
