I used to like Dwight Howard.  He seems like a fun guy, never gets in trouble and is a very good player.  But after last nights game, I decided that I don't like him.

In the first quarter, he seemed to do some cute move after every play.  He had nice jump hooks with each hand but then after each ran down the court looking at his hand (whichever one it was that just made the basket) like it was magical and he couldn't believe it.  Then he had a dunk and did a little flex pose afterward.  This was like defensive backs breakdancing after they make a routine tackle.  Just do your job.  Grr.

Fortunately, he didn't score again until the 4th quarter, so he didn't get a chance for any more of that.

After hearing some public criticism from SVG about him earlier in the season, it seems Dwight is become another prima donna like LeBron.

When Howard starting staring at his hand like that I was praying for the Celtics to win that game!  Perk and Baby obviously noticed what Howard was doing, because he didn't do much after that.  Perk shut him down and Baby got him fouled out. 8 )  I wonder if he's still looking at his hand. LOL

This is the same guy who put on a superman cape to show that he could "fly" and had to throw the ball at the rim from about 5 feet away and call it a slam.

I am not really a fan either.  Every game we play them makes me hate him more.  He moans to the ref as much as KG or Perk but get away with it because of his good boy reputation. I find him kind of pompous

I also think that he shouldnt have won the dunk contest since his "superman dunk" wasnt a dunk. He never touched the rim

I don't care for Howard, especially when he took that swipe at Rondo's head last year in front of the ref.

I'm from the school of "act like you've been there before." I saw him do that look at his hand thing the other night against LA, too. It's cool when someone like MJ used to break out the hands up in the air like "how'd that go in?", but he only broke that out once, as far as i know and it was special.

I came away unimpressed with Dwight last year in the playoffs against Detroit when they were down four or so and there was a loose ball that he could've easily gotten a hand on, and he was just pouting. I think he can be a second fiddle on a championship, but never the number one option.

I've never liked Dwight Howard, of course if he was a celtic that'd be different, but he just annoys the heck out of me, hes just a goofball, the opposite of KG, y'know? that and I thought his superman "dunk" was extremly overrated and Gerald Green easily should've won that competition..he just rubs me the wrong way and I think he stat pads like crazy against teams with no frontcourt..he has no go to moves to speak of, has terrible touch etc

I like the hand looking thing by Howard. I hope the C's review the tape before the next game. While he's admiring the mitt it's a great time for a Celtic big to beat him up the floor. I think Perk did it once last nite. Unfortunately for the C's Howard didn't get to admire the hand too much last nite. It cut down on our fastbreak stats.

Perk or Howard ;D

I know Howard is better, but if Howard was on your team, just hope that Perk isn't on the other team meeting you in the finals.  Perk would shut that boody down! 8)

I guess I'm just disappointed.  I have no problem with not liking players for an unjustified reason, like their haircut or where they went to college.  But it is disappointing to grow to not like someone you thought was good because of their actions.

I agree about the act like you've been there before.  A fist pump is usually enough.

(Although I do like ridiculous signature post-basket moves like the Darius Miles head bump or the Larry Johnson "LJ", especially when doing the signature move allows the other team to fast break and score before the player finishes his move)

I thought I was the only one who saw that!  He got a ten and it wasn't even a dunk!  He may as well have put a cape on and taken a free throw!  The reaction to that dunk, even on this blog, was very frustrating to me.  I was glad to see Big Baby kicking his butt.  I'm also tired of seeing this guy in spandex shirts!  He's not even muscular, he just has a very wide shoulder frame.

I agree about the dunk contest.  He never touched the rim.  As for the looking at his hands- maybe that was the first real sky hook he's ever hit?  I mean he has NO offense, so maybe he was just amazed that his hands could put the ball in the rim without dunking. ;D

I hate it when the guy makes a big deal about talking up his religion and faith, but then acts like an ass. If you are going to act like Shaq, you might as well abandon the holy roller side of the routine.

I've never been a fan, especially since Al Jefe pwnd him a few years back, which made me think he's a product of his athleticism and size and not real skill.
