What is the hotel shuttle van you may ask?  Well, according to the Sports Guy, it's the anti-bandwagon:

Quote from: Bill Simmons
Q: What would you call an anti-bandwagon? I'm on it for Tony Allen right now.
-Ryan, Boston
SG: I'd go with a hotel shuttle van. Ever ridden in one from the Vegas airport? They're hot; they keep stopping; they make you feel sick. By the time you get dropped off, you just want to lie down. Kinda like how I feel watching Allen. So there you go.

While the truth in this analysis pains me as a Celtics fan, it is somewhat vindicating to see "Turning it All over" Tony Allen fail miserably, since as most of you know, I was absolutely convinced TA would not be in the league this year, and for a time stop posting on this blog to live up to my guarantee.

It is basically universally accepted at this point (except for by Brickowski) that this guy is done - even his assistant coach was bashing him on the radio this morning.

So what needs to be done?  We hop on the shuttle!  Here's my ideas for the shuttle destinations, but please list your own:
* Somehow, some way, make a trade or acquisition for a guard who has proven he can play: Marbury, Mike Miller, etc.
* Play Pruitt more, play Cassell, even give House Tony's minutes

It will be tragic if this guy actually comes back from injury (and doesn't get re-injured) and ends up playing any meaningful time on the court.  Frankly, he just doesn't deserve it.  No teams want to acquire him - so the showcasing business is all over.

The fallacy of his "good defense" has been exposed by the defensive mastermind of the team, in public.  Offensively, he is a trainwreck.  Say NO to TA.

Looking forward to Roy's statistical analysis and Brickowski's economic forecast.
God bless and good night!

Tony started out this year playing well. He was consistently putting up 9 to 11 ppg, all on drives and FTS. However, then teams realized that, "oh yeah, he's the guy who couldn't make a jumpshot if you gave him the same look four times in a row", so they started backing off of him and playing him for the drive. Then came the struggles, and the attempts to create for his teammates. He became totally ineffective, and even his finishing around the rim started to decrease in quality. In the games leading up to his injury, he was an absolute train wreck, and a big part of the bench's inconsistently and propensity for turnovers. With TA out of the lineup, the bench has been better, without question. This is because it just so happens that Gabe Pruitt is a lightning quick combo guard, with a jump shot, who doesn't turn the ball over every possession. I had high hopes for TA at the beginning of this season. I even predicted that he would be able to fill 75% of Posey's role, and put up the numbers he was putting up for the first month and half of the season for the entire year. Unfortunately, he has hit another one of his regression patches, where he systematically undoes any improvement he might have made to his game since his last regression period. He's had about 4 of them in his career. I don't want to wait around for number 5, so please, lets either say goodbye to Tony, or push him to the end of the bench and use him for spot minutes.

He can do good things, its just for every 1 good thing, he usually does two bad things. Usually. So maybe if we just use him for spot minutes we can get lucky from time to time and have him string together a bunch of good plays and then quickly pull him out before equilibrium is restored.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Find a way to trade him to the Knicks or Golden State.  Nelly and D'antoni are the only coaches with systems he would fit into.

Of course try convincing their GMs of that.

Simmons should start picking better hotels. I've never been to Vegas, but I've been transported in some really pleasant hotel shuttle vans.

What makes you say that?  Don't these guys' systems require you to be able to hit open threes?

And the Pru thing went way over my head...
God bless and good night!
