I've noticed this the last couple of games, but Mike and Tommy used to sit on the same side of the court as the players bench, I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but I've noticed they've been sitting on the opposite side of the court.  It may have just been last night, but I'm pretty sure I've noticed this before, any clue why?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

The whole scorer's table is shorter this year.  Even Sean and Max sit in the corner a few rows back for WEEI.

Maybe Tommy can yell at the refs better from his new seat.
"Coach you were 24 and 58 last year, why the playoff talk?"
"Well we made a couple of key trades . . . and we got The Funk."

Tommy is a pretty loud guy, and is unafraid to voice his opinion. I would not be suprised if Doc asked for him to be moved, afraid that Tommy might undermine some of his message.
"All I have to know is, he's my coach, and I follow his lead. He didn't have to say anything in here this week. We all knew what we had to do. He's a big part of our family, and we're like his extended family. And we did what good families do when one of their own is affected." - Teddy Bruschi

because it allows them to fit more seats next to the celtics and visitor benches. Its why the scores table is so much shorter.

Aren't those the seats that Belichick sits in when he is at the game?

I don't know know much court side seats go for, but do courtside seats next to the C's bench go for more than midcourt courtside seats on the other side of the floor?  I would think they would cost the same, but I don't know.  If they do indeed cost more that could be it, but I would think they would cost the same, so you add 4 seats (or however many) on one side of the floor by taking out Tommy and Mike's spot, but then you subtract 4 seats sitting them on the opposite of the floor, so it would be a wash.

(I just estimated that the table and equipment and stuff takes up 4 regular seats, I really have no clue, I just figure whatever they took away on one side would be the same that they would have to add in on the other).

Basically, that's where the ESPN or TNT guys sit.  If its not a national game, I guess the organization just decided to move the local TV guys into those seats.  Plus, its better than where they were banished to earlier this year.  2nd row.

You actually can't buy the seats on the players side of the court.  Not the ones in the very front row anyways.  I believe that they are owned and given out by the Celtics.  I noticed very early in this season that they shortened the scorers table in favor of more of those seats.  Very early in the season they had Tommy and Mike in the 2nd row, elevated a little.  I think they got sick of being in the 2nd row and probably asked for a change.  I think the present situation is probably what everyone agreed on.  I do miss Mike getting his regular chalk shower from KG.

If it was just last night, it might be because they didn't want Wyc to smell liquor on Tommy's breath.

Tommy moved to those seats several games ago. They were in row 2 of the scorers table for most of the season.
From preseason on: They took 2 of those revolving courtside banners from mid court and moved them to the baseline.  This pulled the benches closer to the middle. The scorers table also was shortened and became 2 rows. They then closed off traffic passing that side of the court unless your seats are there. Another resut is the players are in a more controlled and thus safer area with no contact with a random fan walking by.
The players tend to sit on the floor in front of the moved baseline banners.  I see Celtics personnal asking them to move so the ads can be seen by TV.
Mid court seats are $1,500 per.
