That is a question. After seeing Gabe Pruitt play in a few games, already I'd rather see him off the bench instead of Tony. He shoots much better, defends, and is less wild with the ball. Every time Allen dribbles, my heart is in my mouth. Did Ainge also overestimate TA's potentials by resigning him? I cannot say that I am overly excited about his play this year. I also am not excited about all those players off the bench except, and I really mean this, Leon Powe. I love the way he plays.

I like that Pruiit isnt  afraid to shoot and he doesnt make many stupid mistakes..I highly doubt he's going to take tonys minutes, he still hardly gets any significant burn and TA is injured

Pruitt, becuase he can fill a need at 2 becuase he can shoot, and he can fill the point guard.

TA is a shooting guard that can't shoot, and is an undersized small forward.

TA was playing very well before the original tweaking of his ankle. I remember someone either here or on RealGM doing a statistical analysis finding that Tony was filling the role of Posey very well in terms of productivity on the floor. After that tweaking he has been prety awful and tough to watch out there. Even his defense has been, like doc said, average.

There's gotta be a way to get Pruitt, House and TA minutes. No more Scal at the 3.

I think that Eddie is good and all, but he's really the odd man out. If Pruitt is playing good then that means he is hitting his shots, and playing very good perimeter D. Gabe's also a guy that could break his guy off the dribble and finish. Eddie is a sniper, but if his shot is off he really doesn't offer anything that can't be done by someone else.

i really think that second unit should be Pruitt, TA....

I agree with your thoughts on the second unit, but I also think it's a pipe dream. There's no way Eddie will be pushed out of the rotation. Even if we get Starbury, you know Eddie will be playing the two, and that might look a lot better than the bench rotation that is happening now.

In my perfect fantasy world, TA would have played great up to this point and we would have traded him & Davis for someone that would really help the team.  Obviously Tony is back to turnovers and bone head plays.  At the point of his resigning Ainge had nothing else to do,TA's trade value was near 0.
I've liked Pruitt for some time and really like the backcourt of Rondo & Pruitt in the future.  Pruitt has imo the 4th best outside shot of entire team which could even be higher (allen, pierce, house).  TA can give us some "short"  ;) minutes at sf but he's really a shooting guard without a lot of range.
sorry tony, pruitt gets my vote

The less stupid mistakes the better so the less Tony Allen the better. I like Pruitt is a low mistake guy. Pruitt needs to boost the energy a little but I like him on the floor about 1000X more than TA.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Pruitt.

In my opinion, the bench has looked good with Pruitt out there. The problem with our second unit seems to be spacing, and ball movement. Pruitt unlike Tony(& House) doesn't feel compelled to hold the ball because unlike Tony(& House) there are consequences when he goes away from the team game.

I like Pruitt as well, If you leave him open he can shoot, if you overplay him he can go inside, he has natural passing instincts, and he can bring the ball up court better than TA, or House.
I dont see any reason he cant take Cassells minutes, and some of houses min when not playing well, and backup RA at the 2 while TA is out, we should be able to play him 10 to 15 for a while and see what he can do.
I also like the idea of playing him with Rondo, I think they could make a solid backcourt someday.

TP for your favorite player, we share that in common. TA can take as long as he wants with his ankle injury he's not needed any time soon  :). Pruitt has been amazing on defense, which si the main thing i'm looking at on him. I actually beleive he's a better defender then TA is, can nail the 3, but Doc needs to teach Pruitt how to penetrate in. Pruitt always stops away from the basket so most of his game is 3's. We don't need a trade to win the championship IMO, we've got all the talent we need, we just need to apply it and Gabe is a part of the puzzle to finding that out.
True Celtic = Leon Powe

Bring back the show!!!!

Gabe is perfect for our team, at the one he has good ball control, he's been working with this offense for a year and a half now, and when it breaks down he can create his own shot.

at the two he's already shown that he can catch and shoot the three, and that he can penetrate when he sees the lane. naturally he's not as good a finisher as TA but i think that he could be very good for his size.

bonus: Pruitt has shown that he's a good defender, while doc is now realizing that TA is "not as good as he should be"

Well, Pruitt. I don't see the barrage of mental mistakes that I see from Allen. But I am not yet ready to pronounce Pruitt a part of a useful championship-contending bench. The sample size isn't big enough.
