I just watched the end of last night's game... what was the problem at the end there with the Raptors' coach, the guy who looks like Hank Paulson?

Kapono misses a 3 that would have cut it to 1 with 10 seconds to go... we grab the rebound and break their press and get a dunk to seal the deal at 115-109... and he runs onto the court with 1.6 seconds to go to accost the refs and then calls a 20-second timeout?

And wait... there's more!

From their hometown paper:

"But the cocky Celtics were unfazed. They rubbed in their win with a showboating alley-oop from Rondo to Leon Powe in the final couple of seconds.

"That's unsportsmanlike. That's unnecessary," said Bosh. "You have the game won with two seconds left, just dribble the clock out, shake hands and just leave. But (Rondo) is a young guy, so he's going to have to learn."

Added Anthony Parker, similarly ticked: "That's something you'll remember."

This is the first time I've heard of a team that lost by 6 complaining about running the score up.

Rondo really could have just run the clock out.

The game WAS over.

Maybe he just wanted another assist to pad his stats?

I hope they have long memories cause they'll have to wait until next year to get their revenge, we already swept them this year.

I do understand where they're coming from.  Then again they had come back from dead in regulation and had that stretch in the last minute of OT where they made a steal and could have hit a 3 to get it to 2.  Ya never know what might happen.

It's funny that these things always happen with Toronto.  The famous Gerald Green oop came against them, as did a Tony Allen windmill at the end of a blowout.  Coincidence?
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Upon further review, you are correct. Because I think we can all agree that Rondo is a player who values padding his own stats above winning.

Which makes it all the more curious that he was acquired by your hero, Danny Ainge. Who knew?

Sry, I call bs.  That game was not over. Toronto's coach fought every step to the end.  I actually admire that cuz you never know when you can steal a few inbound passes and toss up 3s. I dont like when teams just stop playing.

A score was appropriate given Torontos actions at the end of the game.

When you come up with that 6-point play with 1 second to go let me know, sunshine.

The game was over they could have just dribbled it out. Its a small thing though so who cares. Only way it will come up is if they get back into the playoffs and we draw them in the first round.

It aint over till it's over. You dont stop until the ref blows the whistle. If we are ahead by 20 or something then they have an argument. They are whining and the little attitude about being gentlemen and sportsman is a copout for their lame brand of play. They are soft and we beat them despite their comeback, even when we are not at our best. That just galls some people doesnt it?

I guess when there are two outs and the Red Sox are up by 4 runs in the ninth, they should strike out on purpose or they are poor sports? Like we are worried if they remember getting beat. The Raptors players should remember the whippings they get and try to win one or two for a change. 8)

Uh what are you talking about? They could have dribbled the ball and the game was over. There was no chance the Raptors could foul or do anything to win the game.

Baseball doesn't work because in your analogy the Red Sox could still lose the game in the bottom of the ninth. Its more like if the Patriots could end the game in the fourth with 3 kneel downs but instead threw deep passes trying to score another touchdown. Or better yet kicked a FG as time expired when they were already ahead.

Agreed, my friend. The Celtics definitely should have kicked the field goal.

we should have called a time-out and retried the rondo alley-oop inbound pass.

They probably were going to dribble out the clock on that last possession but the Raptors stole the inbounds pass and tried to make a three so really when you think about it they only have themselves to blame.

The problem with doing that is Josh Voskhul would/should have given him a Flagrent 2. I doubt he would have but that is the reason you don't do silly things.

The way the NBA is now though I don't think they'd risk sending a message so clearly.

Haha that would have been amazing. See this is why the Raptors need to stop whining because that game winning dunk would have definitely been more painful. I still can't believe they couldn't see that play coming as soon as I saw Rondo wasn't the one inbounding I told myself uh oh Raps are gonna get vincecarter'd all over again  ;D.

when you give up on a play, whether it is in the first minute or last minute of the game, you relinquish your right to complain about the outcome of that play.

if the raptors cared about that last basket, they should have tried to defend it.  but they gave up, knowing that the game was over, and that no matter what happened, it didn't matter.

and if, by their own estimation, that last possession didn't matter, why they complaining about that last possession?
