The passing and turn overs issues are a concern. He was playing Center and PF before they brought in some legit size. I don't think he is hesitant about his shot. He was just not in a position to showcase it. He may be kind of like TA at this stage; but TA has not shown much ability to improve. Walker, on the other hand has tremendous upside. If you have to choose between playing Walker or TA, I would say Walker, not only does he bring more size and rebounding, he can finish more strongly at the rim and use his size to get his shot off. We will have foul trouble; but on the other side should be able to get to the line and shots a good percentage from the stripe.

Give him a chance!

He looks to me like he's someone who can play big when the Celtics go small, much like Posey did last year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

He sounds like Tony Allen as a small forward probably weaker on D.

Sounds like a good player to me.

and, as the article said, he has good shooting form which means that even if we wasn't shooting well we'd have a good foundation to build off of. (unlike rondo and TA)

It actually reminds me of what Dwayne Wade did the year he was ineligible at Marquette. Crean made him play the next teams best player in practice regardless of position. Sounds like Walker is getting a similar experience.

And that is as far as the DWade and Bill Walker comparrisons go.

I think the author was nitpicking some.  He made an extensive issue of the fact that Walker only took one three (and made it) during the game, using it to explain that Walker isn't confident out there.  I can look through Paul Pierce's game log this year and find seven games where he took less than two threes.  I don't think we'd question Paul's proficiency in that area.  While the point he was trying to make may or may not be true (I wouldn't know, I haven't watched him at Utah), I don't think that conclusion can be drawn from the fact that he doesn't jack it up from beyond the arc enough for the author's taste.

Fouls and turnovers will be a problem, but we could see that by reading the box scores.  My issue with Bill Walker getting any minutes at this point lies in the latter - we have nobody on the second unit who can take care of the ball, and he might make it even more of an issue than it already is.

TP for the topic creator.

It will be interesting to see how the Walker and Giddens situation developes. I want to see them in NBA games, but dont want to jepordize any wins. Both can be upgrades over TA at the 2 of the bench, but it is hard to tell playing against mediocre competition in the Dleague. I like walker's size and strength and finishing ability and it will be nice to see how he developes

i think that it can't be mentioned enough that he injured himself during draft camps, so not only his injury in college but an injury that prevented teams from seeing his skill. he dropped substantially in the draft becuase of it, and i think he still should have been picked over Giddens.

plus i think Bill earned a spot over JR when he stayed in boston the whole off-season to show his dedication. meanwhile JR went to new mexico and went through long contract negotiations.
