Am I crazy, or does Rondo miss more point blank shots than anybody in the NBA? I love the guy, but if I had a bump on my face for every time he's missed a bunny the past two years, I'd be Craig Mack.

yah it true, but it has to do with his size. He gets banged & blocked so many times that even when he has a wide open lane he hesitates.

Yeah because despite how "cut" he is he's about 140 pounds soaking wet.  Very very soft player.

Starbury/Cassell, anyone?
God bless and good night!

What is a good shooting percentage on layups?  Do you think players should make 90% of their layups?  I would love to see what percentage of just layups that Rondo makes.  I think he is better at it this season than last season.  Last year, I would guess he made less than 70% of layups (just a guess), which would be horrible, imo for such an easy shot.

Anyone have any insight on what would be considered a good (or bad) percentage for layups?

According to 82games.com Rondo has an eFG% on inside shots of .707.

As a point of reference here are some other players inside eFG%:

Kobe: .657
CP3: .645
Pierce: .508
LeBron: .733
Derrick Rose: .569
D Wade: .595
D Harris: .541

So, as I suspected this whole thread is really nothing more than an over reaction thread based on the fact that Rondo missed a couple of easy ones LAST NIGHT.

He's been outstanding this entiring year driving to the bucket and finishing. His numbers show he's better than such notable finishers like Kobe, Wade, Rose, and Pierce and when it comes right down to it he hits inside and finishes as effectively as LeBron.

Oh, and he has the highest FG% of any PG in the league.

TP, nick, for saving me the time.  Rondo has been superb finishing inside this year.  Last night, he had difficulties, and it frustrates me that at times he passes on a lot of point-blank shots that he should convert, but overall this year, he's been excellent at making the inside shots that he does take.

rondo also takes more layups than all of those people listed... they can hit and do take mid range jumpers. so the poster does have a point when he says rondo misses easy ones.

same reason why nash is the best 3 point shooter statistically speaking.

I agree that he's doing much better this year.  I was just curious about his stats from last year.  It just seemed that he couldn't make a layup to save his life last season.

I'm more worried about his ft shooting.

Rondo has been fine on layups this year because he stopped spinning the ball so much and started going stronger. Last year he was pretty bad finishing, but not this year.

Who's the best finisher at the rim in the entire NBA in your opinion? Joel Przybilla?

Rondo is a good finisher, but he keeps struggling to finish with his off-hand and through contact. He also must improve his FT shooting, because missing them only encourages the opponents to promote contact aggressively.

TP, nick, but a stat for the whole team over the last ten games in comparison to the start of the season would be better, imo, because it feels as if they miss much more of them since Christmas.

You don´t have something like that, hm?(pretty please? I´m lost on 82games^^)
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

yea, cor is right on here. he misses so many because he gets destroyed on fouls, because guys know even if they foul him, he'll end up going 1/2.

Guys are much more aggersive defending when they know thier man can't punish them at the stripe. it makes your foul worthwhile.

fouling ray allen is a bad move, since he's almost an automatic 2 points, your foul does nothing.

fouling rajon is a great move, you saved your team a point at least.
