If its that close why take the chance in  driving a vehicle?After so many drinks you know that you have gone over the limit for driving,so why risk it?

I wonder if Stern will have the NBA run a promo using the mantra "Where DUI happens"...with the mugshots of NBA players.. accompanied by that [dang]ed nauseating redundant hideous piano music?

In all seriousness, this recent rash of incidents have got to prompt some sort of response from the league, right?  I am sure it will be something lame, like an educational seminar for the players or something, but the league really needs to do something.

Nope.  The NBA is much more concerned with monitoring Paul Pierce's hand gestures.

Until fairly recently the usual legal limit was 1.0, so no, that's not very high.

First, a 1.0 would mean your blood is 100% alcohol. I don't think people would have survived that :-)

Second, it hasn't been anything higher than .08 since the 1970s, if I recall correctly.

But more importantly, I think this is a whole lot of wringing of hands for nothing. I'm not trying to minimize DUIs by any means, but at the same time I think the fact that 3 NBA players have DUIs looks a lot worse because there aren't many NBA players (compared to the general population.) I think most police departments would be happy to ONLY have 3 DUIs a night, you know?

The Donaghy situation was way more serious than this for the league's image.  The embarassment that is NBA officiating hasn't been addressed at all.  You could make a case that it's worst than ever.  Didn't seem to impact overall attendance.  Stern could make the case that most of the players getting busted aren't active NBA players so the problem musn't be that serious.

Until it affects revenues, there's no need to address anything.

Well I agree that they needed to address the refs and Donaghy situation much more.  What I meant though, is the increasingly image-conscious NBA (which is more concerned with how their players look off the court, than the quality of the product on the court at times) would almost certainly jump all over this.  If they are going to make a big deal about the way players dress on their way to games, because they are afraid of players looking like "thugs", I am sure they don't like the fact that there has been several players arrested.

Hah, thanks Davemonsterband  ;D

The NBA cares... about spending $20 on a taxi.

I don't know if this is that bad.  The NFL has players involved with murder and they are thriving.  My prediction is, if the NBA responds, they will make it worse by reminding the news to report on it.  Like slapgate the year after the Pistons/Pacers brawl, when the Nuggets were all over the news for a "rumble" that was about as tough as a teenage girl pillow fight.

So Barkley, Toine, and now J-.Rich. It always comes in threes, because there are no fours.

I made a joke.

We noticed.  ::)
