I would like to reply to accusations. The topic is boring me because we already know the answers before it is eve discussed.  What am I running from? Something that I already am aware of? It is in the NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, tennis, golf, all of them. What does anyone here have to gain by all od f this? Confront you say. Who do you think we are here? We are just fans. Confront is for the person with the criminal behavior. I have nothing to gain by scrutinizing this league and concluding for good or for bad. People are people. good and bad. If basketball helps many players turn a corner to a better life. Great. But for me to sit here and tread the obvious. I don't care.I already know this. Ain't anything relealing here. We know Michael Jordan was a huge gambler, Barkley too. Chamberlain loved women too. Thousands upon thousands. NY Knicks sex party before the playoffs with Patrick Ewing the star. We know this. We can surmise much more too. But I got plenty of close friends with a lot to hide. BIG SUFF. Me Too. WE should try to remember this and stay clear from passing judgement. I don't care what they do in their spare time. I care about their performance on the court alone. The owners and the specific individuals not 'acting' correctly have to confront, no one else.

The NBA is made up of black men. A huge amount of black men get arrested and a shocking amount of them spend time in prison. Relative to these numbers NBA players do alright.

It's a pretty serious problem - but not really related to the NBA. I'd say the two reasons are..

Cultural - black society doesn't put the emphasis on education and hard work with regards to education that it should.

Our Society - I can't help but be reminded of Gladwells "new" book here (which of course is nothing new) but people greatly understimate the role of circumstance in a persons success and overrate "talent." We need to try to make sure more individuals have better opportunities to succeed even in "non-traditional" fields for their racial/socioeconomic status..
