Just turned up the TV before the game to see Magic call on all GMs to hire this guy as a coach, then Kobe a few hours on an "old interview" making - in a round about way - the same argument.

Is this a lame way of trying to disband the Cs and rob us of a possible mini-dynasty?

I understand Kobe jokingly commenting about it, but Magic?  Oh, that was intentional.

I might be overeacting a bit, but I am pretty good at reading-between-the-lines.

What do you think? Was Magic acting intentional - as in helping the Lakers?

everyone wants tom as a coach now and with all the coach firings, he's basically guaranteed a head coaching gig for next year.

Become Legendary.

Agreed. And I wouldn't have minded comming out of EJohnson/KSmith or CBarkley.  But comming out of Magic, and during a nationally(ABC) televised Lakers/Celtics showdown; the whole comment takes on a totally different meaning and perspective.  It wasn't as innocent as it sounded....IMHO

Yeah, reading between the lines, I tend to agree with you. Very clever of Magic, absolute brilliance... I'm voting yes, we need to find a way of stopping this evil master-plan.

I think there's also a shot of paranoia and overanalyzing too.

I'm just hoping that he doesn't like the spotlight and doesn't want the day to day responsibilities that a coach has to deal with.

The guy's probably making close to a million and doesn't have to deal with interviews on Monday mornings at 8 am, saying the same things over and over again after every game, and managing personalities carefully. Coaching is a pretty rough gig.

is this for real?  if anything, magic is praising thibs, there is no motive there.  quite frankly, i agree with everything he said.  i would be shocked if he isnt offered a head coaching job for next season. honestly, im surprised (and happy) he returned to us this season.
