http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/56198/20081226/iguodala_latest_to_speak_on_bostons_trash_talking/

76ers forward Andre Iguodala is the latest to speak out on the "trash-talking" of the Celtics.

"It takes away from how good of a team they are. It takes away from their respect factor. Teams won't respect them as much," Iguodala said of Boston's on-court actions.

As confident as the Celtics are on the court, Iguodala doesn't believe that they have the same intimidation tactics of the Pistons.

"I think they're a good team, but they don't have the intimidation factor of those Detroit teams," he said.

Im getting sick of scrubs opening their sore loser mouths about the celtics trash talking and it becoming breaking news, noone around the league has any respect for this team at all right now, its quite sad
I dont know what these kids except from the celtics? to hold their hands and let them score easily? tell them how great they are?
and seriously Andre, how does our trash talking take away from how good we are? did michael jordans trash talking make him a lesser player?

Iggy isn't a scrub.

The point seems to be teams are now rolling their eyes at our trash talking. I really don't care, so long as we win, but the trash talking might be part of the reason why teams get so up for us.

every team trash talks, (well, except the freakishly silent and effiecnt jazz) I notice only losing teams who get crushed complain about it.

I could really care less if iggy and the sixers got thier wittle old feelings hurt, i support the chatty cathys.

Also, if these teams think this trash talking by the C's is bad, i shudder to think what they would have done against the old celtics teams or jordan's bulls.

Jordan probley would have had Iggy crying and wetting himself by halftime.

Alright, Iggy might not be a scrub, but he isnt much more than a scrub IMO..
..The NBA has become such a soft league that the players cant handle trash talking? yet their idols are probably MJ, Bird, and Reggie Miller...Get a grasp people!!

Why can't you handle Iggy talking about the Celtics' trash-talking? Have Celtics fans become that soft?

Perhaps the point is no one would complain about MJ or Bird trash-talking because they didn't want to get the guys mad. It seems players don't fear the Celtics in the same way and feel the Celtics' trash-talkers are just full of themselves.

If you are going to talk trash, you also have to accept that such behavior may be made public. I don't see a problem with that.

I'm fine with the trash talking, but other players have the right to say what they want about it.

He's a grown man complaining about how other grown men talked to him. Does anyone else find this ridiculous? I thought trash talk was part of the whole competition thing. The league seems to be full of sensitive softies. I'm adding Iguodala to my soft player list. I don't think Iguodala could sit down and play a game of 2k with me and friends he's not mentally tough enough, lol.

I have no problem with iggy talking about it, i just think it makes him look like a pansy.

I think its more that back then guys played the game like men and now wagging your finger at someone after a blocked shot is a suspension.

The NBA ahs strived to pussifiy itself as much as possable since the mid 90's, is it any suprise players like iggy who grew up in that envoirment look to the refs to stop the big old' meanies picking on them?

Ig is an overpaid, under performing player for an overpaid, under performing team. I'm sure he's jealous. Who cares what he thinks?

Trash-talking is playing like a man? I don't see the connection. I'm a fan of trash-talking, but if you do it, you run the risk of people laughing at you. I accept the good with the bad.

If players choose to mention this to the press, then the onus is on the trash talkers to make them pay for it.

I can see Q Richardson whining about the trash talking, but Iggy here seems just to be answering a question and he's actually being more insightful than previous complainers, saying that he feels it doesn't seem to add to the game and that he feels it takes away from their greatness.  I am fine with that because he's being honest, not taking anything away from the Celtics and he's not whining.  QRich and others were talking about how they can't do that in street ball and this and that, not insightful at all.  I don't think this makes Iggy a softie, especially since I respect the fact that he's dunks are straight out power dunks, none of that fancy but straight out power dunks.

Then again, I am little biased considering that I have him on my fantasy team.:)

In my opinion, he sounds like a Whiney kid with his answer. The proper answer is that it's part of the game, end of story. I'm tired of the Media painting the Celtics as bad guys, and players complaining. It's gotten to the point where they make it seem like the Celtics are the only teams who talk and that it's something out of the ordinary. Trash talk is a part of just about any competitive game, especially a sport like basketball where your constantly defending or being defended by the same guy.

I'm just happy that I misread the OP. At first, I thought Iguodala had been traded here :o
The man is similar to TA with even less of an outside shot! Exaggeration?- maybe a little, but he's a bad shooter with no conscience.
Concerning trash talking- not something I even think about. But you do risk looking foolish or like a bully.

I admit to being and old-school white guy but I don't get the trash talking and finger-waving.  I can't see Bill Russell doing either.  They are champions and are supposed to carry themselves as if they have been there before.

I don't like finger-waving, I don't like touchdown dances, and I didn't like the way Manny acted after homeruns.  And now, I don't like that the Celtics are getting a rep as trash-talkers.  They are the champs, what do they need to trash talk for?

I just don't get it.

They were trash talkers last year as well, I remember very clearly, yet noone ever made as big a deal out of it.
Pierce and KG have been talkers there entire careers, eddie house seems to be a talker, and obviously Perkins might be the worst of all...I dont see Ray and Rondo talk trash other than with each other last night :/
Anyways, i guarantee you these guys talk trash to each other like crazy in practice, its nothing against the other teams, its just all in competive nature, I think guys like Igudola need to shut up about it altogether and realGM doesnt need to even publish it, I mean seriously, pretty dissapointing
