"The 7-2 free agent center who helped the 76ers reach the NBA Finals in 2000-01, and who says ''I will be in Boston or San Antonio by the end of the year,'' is trying to raise at least $2 million to help treat the thousands of patients who have been coming, mostly on an out-patient basis, to the hospital he has built in his native Democratic Republic Of The Congo."

I hope this is true, cause between SA and Bos i believe he will choose us. I thought he was going to Houston, though...

This definitely sounds like Danny has had conversations with him. I wonder if this means Danny knows PJ won't come back, or he prefers Mutombo over PJ? Personally, I would take PJ because I think he fits our offense and defense a little better. However, it is pretty close. I wouldn't mind knowing PJ's status.

Good find on this.  Another move will have to be made soon if this happens to fit him on the roster.  Could we just waive Giddens to clear a roster spot or does he have to be traded?

I really think this is a first come first serve situation. We have the need, we can't afford not to fill it (in my mind)

If Mutumbo is ready to go, I say we go.

Would it be possible to move Sam to the Coaching Staff to open a roster spot for Mutombo?

I hope we are not disappointed, if indeed he signs with the Spurs..

I don't see how the Celtics can vacate a roster spot in time.

I don't think its very likely...I really think the more we see it one of giddens or walker will go, probably walker, though i think he will be the better player.

Ideally we'd trade giddens for a future pick, and on the point of Cassell, I would almost rather we kept him active this season. Im not sure I trust anyone but him come June, esp not pruitt.

My thoughts exactly, IP.  If there were a guarantee about PJ, maybe it might be a dilemma.  But since there isn't, I'll take Deke without a second thought if he's willing.

cut any of the following tomorrow, in this order.

cassell, POB, Pruitt.

Much more likely it would be Obryant.

I think the order of cuts would be:

1. POB
2. Cassell (but they only cut him if they sign a PG)

After that, they would likely try to trade Giddens for a draft pick, and if they were desperate, they would just take a second rounder for him.  I think they are too high on Walker to cut, and Giddens has too much guaranteed money to cut.

See thats why I don't think POB is a cut..he's on the books through next season, and with Scals, thats a 5 million in expiring money bundle. Why pay this guy when he has more value next season.

Now Walker, he's only owed 700k next season (only 700k..HA!), which is half of what Patrick "Pollard 2.0" OBryant makes. Financially he makes the most sense, and who is to say he won't be there anyway at the end of the season?

Cassell I don't think they will cut unless he thinks its a good idea. I dunno if he's gonna be coaching in green but I've got this strange feeling they really don't want to make him angry. We probably wouldn't like him when he's angry.

Are we over the luxury tax threshold? If so, Danny may be told to do this the cheapest way, as any signing is essentially doubling the new salary for the ownership group. In the big picture of the team, it is a small amount of money, but it is more than pennies out of their pockets.

When did Sam become Bruce Banner?

No, I think the New York Yankees will swoop in and sign him before the Celtics do.

Well, it depends who you believe salarywise.  I have read somewhere that POB was signed for the minimum (this is also how it is reported on shamsports, as well as ESPN trade machine), and next year is not in fact guaranteed.  If it is guaranteed (especially if it is more than the minimum), then you are probably right, but I tend to believe the reports that it is the minimum, and unguaranteed.

I agree about Cassell.  The only way I see him cut is if they signed someone like Marbury.  And the only way they would sign someone like Marbury, is if they decide Cassell won't be able to contribute this season (I am convinced they are planning on him being the backup PG by the end of the year).
