I was really impressed with Smith last year in the Playoffs. Even if P.J. was available Smith may be a better player to sign. Hes alot younger at 33, and still is very productive off the bench. What do you guys think, P.J. or Smith?

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I think we sign whoever will commit to us first. We have a pronounced need there, and the bigger danger is that we can't get either PJ or Joe Smith or anyone we WANT to fill it. If we can sign Joe to a minimum (assuming he's bought out, though a trade looks most likely), sign him. If PJ say he wants to play, sign him. First come, first signed.

EDIT: Honestly though I guess I'd still rather have PJ, but not at the expense of waiting for him.

PJ has proven already he can help us in the big games and know the system.

Beggars can't be choosers. I agree we will take the first qualified taker. I could see us giving a final chance to PJ if we start talking to Smith, but I don't see us waiting if there is a chance to seal the deal.

The Cavs cannot trade for Smith under league rules. However, there is also a chance he could request a buyout and become a free agent. In that case, the Cavs may give him a look and the feeling could be mutual. Smith will be a free agent next summer as well. "I would have interest in the Cavs, I'm not sure they would be interested in me," Smith said. "They would be an option." Cleveland Plain Dealer

Sounds like Joe Smith would rather play for the Cavs. >:(

Everyone thought PJ Brown would sign with the Spurs, no one thought Posey would sign with the Celtics last summer. I mean sure, he makes sense for the Cavs, but once he's bought out, if he's bought out, I think we've got more than a shooter's chance here.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
I know, Joe said he was leaning more toward the Cavs, but 26-2 and 18 in a row by the defending champs is going to change a lot of free agents minds. I would rather have PJ, but since there has been zero info about him coming back, I think he's done.

That doesn't sound like much of a done deal to me.  It sounds like someone asked him if he would be interested in the Cavs, and he said he would.  He didn't say he would prefer them over anyone else.

The popular thinking in Cleveland is that Smith would love to come back here, but I am not sure where that opinion is coming from.  Cleveland fans would love to have him back, but Smith has never said he would definitely come back to Cleveland.

I wonder why Smith thinks that the Cavs wouldn't be interested in him?

I'd be happy with Smith. He can defend, score in the pot and rebound. Fills a need.

He's just being coy.

I thought KG and Smith didn't get along when they were in Minny? Didn't they get into a few fights or something ?

KG would fight with the server at McDonalds...you know, if he wasn't banned from McDonalds for fighting with the servers.

Joe Smith and an OKC 2nd for Brian Scalabrine and our 1st pick.

Yup! sounds fair to me.

No Tony Allen for Damian Wilkens thank you very much.
