I think we sign whoever will commit to us first. We have a pronounced need there, and the bigger danger is that we can't get either PJ or Joe Smith or anyone we WANT to fill it. If we can sign Joe to a minimum (assuming he's bought out, though a trade looks most likely), sign him. If PJ say he wants to play, sign him. First come, first signed.

EDIT: Honestly though I guess I'd still rather have PJ, but not at the expense of waiting for him.

Beggars can't be choosers. I agree we will take the first qualified taker. I could see us giving a final chance to PJ if we start talking to Smith, but I don't see us waiting if there is a chance to seal the deal.

Sounds like Joe Smith would rather play for the Cavs.

Everyone thought PJ Brown would sign with the Spurs, no one thought Posey would sign with the Celtics last summer. I mean sure, he makes sense for the Cavs, but once he's bought out, if he's bought out, I think we've got more than a shooter's chance here.

That doesn't sound like much of a done deal to me.  It sounds like someone asked him if he would be interested in the Cavs, and he said he would.  He didn't say he would prefer them over anyone else.
