It's okay. I have negative PSU pride. I've been to only one football game (that's plenty for me - 107,000 people chanting in unison is quite surreal). Though I have to say I am rooting for them over USC in the Rose Bowl. How can you root for Pete Carroll over the soon-to-be-82-year-old JoePa (who just got a 3 year extension)?

yeah. i agree about paterno. from what i can tell he is not only eternal...he seems to be a good human being and seems to treat his players well...unlike many coaches.

but if you have any info that says otherwise, let me know.

i have been to state college, not much there aside from the school is there? pretty area but it seems isolated.

Took my last final exam yesterday (grad school) so I'm hoping to get my grades by tomorrow.  Definitely anxious.  Also, i have one prospective employer who wants to see my first semester grades before making a call on hiring. That just increases my anxiety

I think I had a pretty solid semester, especially after going back to school after working for almost 5 years.

I just finished my last final for grad school too.  I don't have to take any more classes now, but I have the cumulative exams next semester to officially be a PhD student, then no more tests.

IP you like Ochem?  That's my concentration in grad school.

I hear ya on that, and it's funny for me since I'm the son of two math teachers, so the math part was never an issue.  I think it's more that I was always turned away by the idea of a two or three-hour lab. 

If I recall correctly, that one class I took was three hours worth of credit that included two one-hour lectures, a one-hour lab recitation and a two-hour lab each week - with those last three hours starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday mornings.  Boogah.

Yea I know all about recitations, as I have to teach those so I can get paid.  Only one more semester of that though.

Maybe you wouldn't be stressing if you spent more time studying than posting on CelticsBlog. 

Seriously, though, I don't understand how some people can be so passionate about sports, yet can't find some academic subject they are just as passionate about (and thus get good grades). I'm a grad student at Penn State. As you know, the students would die for JoePa and the football team. They spend days camping out outside of Beaver Stadium so that they can get good seats in the student section. Yet, very few of them work as hard in classes. There are several hundred types of majors. Can't they find one that interests them as much as football? If they could, maybe they would work as hard studying as they do trying to get good seats. Of course, I am assuming that they have the desire to get an 'A' -- if you loved a subject, wouldn't you try to get the highest grade possible?

  Funny. I have a kid trying to figure out how to major in "World of Warcraft" with a minor in "Guitar Hero"...

Never understood the fascination with JoePa for the first few years I was here. Now as he is pushing 82, I'm starting to get it. My parents are crazy and they are only 60. I'm starting to go crazy as I enter my late-20s. How the heck can you retain the mental awareness and sanity to coach a football powerhouse when you're in your 80s? I'll give him props for that.

As for State College, if you don't like football or drinking, it isn't your town. Jon Stewart said, as you approach the town, it's like 'cow, farm, cow....20,000 hot chicks'.

I really like the NMR stuff, and learning about the "how" of different reactions I'd always just taken as things that happened, but never knew how. O CHem has definitely helped me understand a lot more of what goes on inside the body at a molecular level.

However as a whole though, not a big Ochem fan

I have all my grades but one.  Frustrating and the thing is that my school already closed for the day today because of this snowstorm so I think i might have to wait until Monday now.

The frustrating thing is that I had this classes' final on Monday and he still hasnt sent grades in.  I had another final on Wednesday and that professor turned in the grades yesterday.
