I was doing some thinking this morning about how quickly things change.  Just two years ago we witnessed the worst losing streak in Celtics history.  I remember watching those games at the time and in a strange way not being bothered by it.  Maybe it was because I was hoping for Oden/Durant, or maybe it's because after years of watching the Celtics we had not been successful.  It's only at this point in time I look back and really cringe at how awful that whole situation was.  I mean we LOST 18 IN A ROW!

However times change and now we are witnessing one of the best winning streaks in our franchises history.  I think it would be a nice reward to see us beat the franchise record just to make that 18 losing streak a little less rememberable.

I really hope this streak doesn't end against the Lakers ANYONE but the Lakers.   How amazing would it be if we go in streak in tact and crush them once more?

I have a love/hate relationship with the current Cs winning streak.  I love that they are getting the Ws, but I hate that there is more and more attention paid to the fact that they are on pace to get a record-breaking streak, because I think that records can be a big distraction (any Pats fans on the board know exactly what I am talking about).

Sorry to say, but in all seriousness, I almost think it best that the Cs lose a game soon.

If you listen to Doc and the Celtics though they're saying the right things and acting the right way.  They're more concerned with improving then they are about the streak - and I don;t feel as though it's just lip service.

The Pats said all the right things last year as well....

I really feel it would be healthy for the team to lose a game and hear the media question once again how good the Celtics are. Not suggesting they should lose a game on purpose, just suggesting that it isn't a bad thing if they do.

Apples and oranges.

The Celts are never going to be in a position where 1 losss will cost them their season.

I don't buy the whole "Pats lost because of their streak" argument. They simply got outplayed by a very hot team. Is that so hard to understand? What you guys are doing is rationalizing what happened. The Giants played them very tough in a previous meeting, they didn't sneak on the Patriots, it wasn't a fluke or a consequence of the pressure of going undefeated.

Yeah, but the big difference between our streak and the Pats is that no matter what happens, ours is guaranteed to end well before the playoffs.  This streak will be a distant memory in June - not so with the Pats who carried theirs all season.

And I agree that the streak didn't cause the Pats to lose.

Fair enough, and I partially agree.  There is no doubt that the Giants were and are a very good team.  However, I do believe the streak played a role in the Pats losing, but maybe I am just a sore loser.

Back to the Celtics -- I don't want to hear comparisons to the 72-Win Bulls.  The only thing that matters to me is the championship.  Winning the championship means dealing with adversity.  One way to learn from adversity is to learn how to rebound from a loss.

One thing to keep in mind when comparing winning a Super Bowl vs winning an NBA championship.

The one game factor vs a best of seven series factor.

The best team always wins the NBA championship.

The best team does not always win the Super Bowl because of the any given Sunday factor. Football is an odd game of matchups, bounces, referee calls, and rules that benefit one team and screw the other. The Patriots were screwed by the Helmet catch where the ball clearly hit the ground and it never get a review. 4 plays later, I had a stroke (well not really but my wife wanted to rush me to the hospital).

The Celtics proved they were the best team out there last year and they have thankfully improved on that. They just need the energy and health to find 16 wins between Tax Day 2009 and July 4th, 2009. BTW Cleveland and LAL is pushing awful hard for victories this year.
Wins are few, times are hard. Here is your bleeping St Patricks Day Card.
