  • So what if we don't win 73 - the ring's the thing
Thanks!

Well, let's see - 40 years old, live in Sydney, Australia, have been a fan since 1979 (holy cow is that really 29 years) and consider myself the biggest Celtics fan there is in this country.

Have been to Boston twice and seen the Celts play in both the Old and New Garden - saw them against the Washington Bullets in Jan 1990, which was the game Johnny Most returned from heart surgery and got a five minute standing ovation. I was lucky enought to get courtside seats opposite the Bullets bench thanks to Mr Jeff Twiss, who answered a letter I wrote prior to going over. Then Larry Bird nearly has a triple double and the Celts blow them out of the gym. One of the great sporting moments of my life without question.

Then saw them play the Clippers in 2000 in the Ricktator era - complete with`Antoine Walker chucking up brick after brick (after, mind you, going 4 for 4 inside in the first period) and a guy near me yelling constantly "POTAPENKO!!!! PASS THE BALL POTAPENKO!!!!". Funny stuff. And the Cs won so it was all good.

I've gone through the highs of the 1980s and the lows of the late 90s-early 00s, and can't believe how lucky I am to see this great franchise revisit the glory days. I fervently hope that sometime soon I can make it back there and be a part of the amazing atmosphere that is the Gahden these days. GINO!!!!!!

Oh, and two things I believe without question and will do so until the day I die:

1. Larry Bird is the greatest basketball player the world has ever seen.
2. The 1985/86 Celtics are the greatest basketball team there ever was and probably will ever be.

So that's me! Oh, I should mention I have a ton of Celts games on tape and DVD, including the 84 Finals against the Fakers, the Memorial Day Massacre in 85, Bird's 60 point game and the 86 finals against the Rockets. I am desperately searching for game 7 against the Knicks in the 84 EC semis and game 5 against Atlanta in the 86 EC semis, so if anyone can hook me up, let me know.
