I'm greedy. I'd like another big (Deke, Joe Smith, Zo) and another 3 (Ruben Patterson etc).

I wouldn't mind a small forward, and thought that that was one of the holes left on the roster.  However, I wouldn't want Ruben the Rapist under any circumstances.

Patterson was just an example. I don't like him either. I'll change it to bigger, power 3.

I'd love to see joe smith get a chance at a ring in Boston.

I'm all set with Zo. I just can't get past his behavior when he got traded to a bad Toronto team, flat out refused to report.

Joe Smith on the other hand shows up to work every day, playing with out complaint, for the worst team in the nba.

Honestly, I'm hard-pressed to think of any available FA wing that would be a tangible upgrade or even at the same level as the threesome of Paul, Ray and TA on defense against a superstar like Lebron.

Seriously, who's available who could defend LBJ at the same level or better than Tony or Ray. Not to mention, anyone that guards Lebron is gonna get a ton of help off the double to keep him out of the paint.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

Oh, I agree.  Backup small forward is a weakness, but there's no great way to rectify that right now.  I'm not a huge fan of Bonzi, and I certainly don't want Patterson.  There were potential free agents in the off-season -- Posey, Barnes, Pietrus, Devean George, etc. -- but all that is left now is junk.

you know - if Danny had done his job and re-signed Posey, we wouldn't be looking for a forward right now, would we ??

This is all just the same Posey envy that we've been dealing with all year.  Silly.

Makes me wonder why they didn't try to sign Matt Barnes when he was available.  Didn't he sign for the vet minimum?

I wouldn't be surprised if Danny already spoke with PJ and he has decided to stay retired.  I believe PJ said that if he played again it would only be for the Celtics.

PJ would be my first choice though if he decided to play.  Joe Smith 2nd, but he would have to be traded for.

I wonder how Antoine feels knowing he's the only forward on the market right now that the Cs don't have to trade for and they still don't want him.

>>>> He's probably going "oh well...".  Toine, right now, just wants to PLAY BASKETBALL, not WATCH OTHERS PLAY BASKETBALL like he has the past two seasons.

Whether by design or not, Toine has been pretty much stuffing himself with humble-pie the past two years and probably now realizes just how precious playing this game AND getting the Opportunity to really is.   I'm sure that once he latches on to another team and gets minutes, he'll do whatever it takes to make sure he doesn't sit again unless it's in a timeout.

Danny did his job by not overpaying Posey.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
i honestly believe they are making sure that the point guards stay healthy - it's the only reason i see keeping cassell around.  otherwise, they are wasting a roster space with his existence on this team.  they don't need him at all...might as well put him on the coaching staff and move on.

My position on Posey hasn't changed - he brings several qualities to the table this bench is missing. And frankly, if we're going to waste seven figures, better him than Cadaver #26.

But that's done. It is at least encouraging that Danny recognizes the clear deficiences in a bench that will prevent this team from repeating - a big and an outside shooter.

Tonight is one example: An ugly, offense-less performance from the bench, featuring vintage mental mistakes from the group. The bench is inadequate for a playoff run, and it's good to see Danny's on the prowl for help.
