I didn't see any posts on this.  I didn't have the misfortune of seeing him do Friday's game since it was on ESPN so I don't know how he did then.

He was utterly terrible tonight- it's like he's never even seen a basketball game.  The number of incorrect calls he made was astonishing.  I mean was he actually there watching the game?

Really makes you appreciate Mike.

One final thing is that Dick Stockton would be proud of the Tanguay performance tonight  ;D

Are you trying to frame me, tb?  Feels like I could have written that one, right down to the Dick Stockton line.   :D  Definitely a frustrating go of it tonight - particularly on Pruitt's second foul, which GT wrongly attributed to several other Celtics prior.

He is just a tad over dramatic, and at really strange times.

And is it just me, or do you think he actually believes the free throw voodoo?
Yup

if there was such a thing as the "kevin harlan award" tanguay would have won it tonight for that *ahem* performance.

Heh, Redz, he seemed pretty legitimately broken up when PP missed that freebie after he read the numbers.

Also, great point about the spots he picks to raise his voice.  I  was all sorts of confused by this all night.

Steve I've said it before I think we share the same brain lol.  I've strongly agreed with everything you've ever written.

Was he this bad Friday night if anyone saw him announce it?  Again I watched it on ESPN.

And this really was Dick Stockton-level-bad.  He had no idea of any of the calls that were being made or the players involved.  That offensive foul on Rondo when he pushed off on Kirilenko was like 10 seconds late.

I seriously think you could've picked a random person out of the arena and they would've done a better job.

And it's like he doesn't know when to get really excited.  His fake-laughs in the 1st half about everything Tommy said were amusing too.

Just god-awful.

Give Tanguay credit.  He is much better than Billy Packer.

I think that's a bit of a tough comparison as one does play-by-play and the other analysis.  But I don't doubt that Billy can rub audiences the wrong way.

Personally, I particularly enjoyed imagining the suits in the war room at CBS during last year's Kansas-UNC Final Four game when Billy pronounced - at about the 13-minute mark of the first half - "This game...is over!"  Credit the guy at least for not pulling any punches, no matter the ratings ramifications  ;)

Not a Billy fan, I take it, indy?

I'm a Xavier grad and can't stand him bashing us for making the tourney year in and year out.  CBS had to pull the plug on him a couple times last year during the selection show.  Didn't he also use the "This Game...is over!" quote during the NC/Kansas game?

Yep, that's the game I was referring to above.  That was not a particularly fun time to be in Mizzou Tigers territory (where all things Jayhawks are hated - fortunately my relationship is far tighter with the Celts, so I've never taken issue with our cap'n).

And, no, Billy isn't known as the world's biggest booster of programs that aren't the perennial elites.  Is my memory serving me correctly in thinking that Billy and Phil Martelli got into it the year St. Joe's had that long undefeated run, lost to Xavier in the A10 title game and still got a one seed?
