Rank the potential free agent pickups.  I'd put them as:

1. Alonzo (but he's going to resign in Miami)
2. Dikembe
3. Joe Smith
4. P.J. Brown
5. Antoine Walker
6. None of the above

Yes, I rank P.J. fairly far down my list, despite his contributions last season.  And yes, I'd rather have Antoine than Patrick O'Bryant.  If we're going to have a fairly useless guy sitting at the end of our bench, I'd rather have it be somebody who bled Celtics green, rather than the lazy stiff we have there now.

(Even though I'd prefer Zo, I'm voting for Dikembe in the poll, because Alonzo is 99% certain to sign with the Heat.)

That's pretty much my list. Is Antoine in any kind of shape though?

Wow, Antoine is your #1? :P

Anyway, I would put PJ at #1, because he not only can play defense, but can shoot the J, which proved very valuable in the playoffs against Cleveland.

1. PJ
2. Mourning (I only have him as #2 because I don't know how he will come back from his injury).
3. Mutombo
4. Joe Smith
5. Toine

I've always been a Toine fan, but I don't think he is as useful to us as the other four.

The potential of Antoine and Glen Davis running a fast break together just puts it over the top for me.
God bless and good night!

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.

Personally, I prefer the idea of a Thunder and Lightning alley oop combination of 'Toine and Scal, but your rhino stampede fast break has some merit too.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

My ranking of the available big men looks something like this:

1. Alonzo Mourning
2. Joe Smith
3. PJ Brown
4. Dikembe Mutumbo
5. Antoine Walker

My top choice for the Celtics, however, would be PJ Brown. You can't undervalue the importance of bringing in a guy who won a championship in the system with essentially the same group of guys. Bring back PJ!

Alonzo had some serious injuries and has not played a single minute since. I don't know if I like the idea of signing him without having a chance to see him in a game or working out. If he's anywhere close to the same level he had before the play, he'd be the obvious first choice.

Joe Smith, PJ or Mutombo... it's a wash. Joe is the better player, but also the worst fit considering what we need.

Antoine Walker and POB... I'd rather sign Courtney Sims or Jake Voskuhl or Chris Hunter...

This is how my list would go as well (although if I think about it more, I am sure I could find a better 5th option than Antoine).  If Mourning is healthy, he would be huge for this team, and Joe Smith is basically just PJ Brown with more gas in the tank.
