It's like the media has already given the championship to either the Cavs or the Lakers and their only reasoning is Posey's departure. As far as I'm concerned, they're drinking the anti-green Kool Aid.

How about this, let's assume that we win this year. Given the rise of players like Powe, BBD, Rondo, and Perks, what's holding us back from a threepeat provided that we get another PJ Brown-like journeyman, as a backup, for the playoffs?

Why not talk about winning 10 in a row?

Why talk about 3 in a row when we still haven't won two?

We need to win #2. In July, we can discuss 2010.

Becuase in 2010 Ray and KG will be 34 and PP wil be 32. I knew from the get go that the celtics had a 2 year window. :D

They definitely have longer than a 2 year window.

As much as I'd love to talk about a possible three-peat, I think it would be a lot better if we enjoyed the current championship defense run that we are having right now. Besides, let's enjoy the ride while we're still there. It took us 22 long years to get to 17 so I'm definitely taking my time to smell the roses on the way to 18.

One more thing, I still get the kick out of watching Laker fans grinding their teeth for a chance to get back at us. That is the beauty of banner 17. We got it at the expense of the Lakers  ;D

But isn't that the whole pt? Last year, the media anointed the Lakers to win it all despite the C's great team defense. But then, they lost; and it was decisive, not due to bad officiating as in the Miami finals.

And this year, with Bynum back, they're saying it again. So in effect, it's time for us, Celtics Nation, to turn the tables on the national press. Let's just go for a three-peat or, 3 in a 4 yr run, kinda like the Pats. It's time to call an ace an ace, a spade a spade. Add one or more role playing subs and the Celts become a mini-dynasty whereas for the Lakers and the Cavs, they'll always be hawking home court as their only edge in winning it all.

Our hope is that because the Big 3 are playing with each other they can extend their careers a but longer.

Our other hope is our younger guys like Rajon, Perk, Tony Allen, Giddens, Walker and Powe can all get better to make up for any losses we get from our aging Big 3.

I've seen many people and so called experts express that the Celtics are the best team in the NBA. Just because you read here and there that some people like the Lakers more or the Cavs doesn't mean that the whole media thinks that.

If anything, it's the fans around that think they're better. But I think the media, as whole, knows that Celtics are the best team.

What's stopping us from talking about a fourpeat?

You have some points there but what I'm really saying is that we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. Let the national media say what they want to say. Like the Lakers last year, I'd love to see them all fall flat in their faces come June '09.

I understand your hunger for respect but I believe that the respect we really deserve will come after all is said and done. As for now, I'm really glad the C's are using all these media nonsense to add fuel to the burning desire to repeat. Defending the championship is really hard because as Magic Johnson once said, the players don't have the same intensity to win the year after capturing their title. The C's this year is a case against the trend. They seem as hungry as last year and hopefully, that will lead to banner 18.
