TNT did a huge thing during all star break in 2006 (I think) to add 10 players on the 10th anniversary of to 50 greatest list.  There were something like 20-25 experts/coaches/GMs/players on the voting panel.

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the release of the fiftieth anniversary team, fourteen broadcasters employed by the American television network Turner Network Television, a broadcaster of NBA games and the network on which the programs The NBA on TNT and Inside the NBA air, released a list of the Next 10 Greatest Players. The panel, which included four former players and two panelists who voted on the initial NBA list, considered contemporary players who were unestablished in 1996 and historical players not already included on the original list. Released on February 18, 2006, the ranked list was presented in conjunction with the NBA's 2006 All-Star Weekend.

Players selected

Players italicized were active during the 2005-06 season during which the team was announced, and are still playing as of 2008. Players starred had, upon the close of the 2005-06 season, been inducted as players into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Players with crosses (†) were inducted after 2006.

    * Tim Duncan
    * Kevin Garnett
    * Connie Hawkins*
    * Allen Iverson
    * Jason Kidd
    * Bob McAdoo*
    * Reggie Miller

I agree, you can't take names off the list, plus, I think most of those names deserve to be there.  Pippen is one of the most under-rated players of all time.  He could play, I personally think he's one of the greatest all around players the game has seen.

May 22nd 1994.

The greatest all around players don't quit on their teams.

Can we use that same logic to keep Kobe off?  It wasn't during a game, but throwing Bynum under the bus 18 months ago surely has to be close enough.

Yeah true, but everyone said he was a good team mate after.  I don't think you can count once incident against a player.  He had an error in judgment, it happens.  That was his team, he wanted the game winning shot to be his, but all Jackson asked him to do was throw the ball in.  I think you could find an incident in almost every players career where they've done something they shouldn't have.

Its been 12 years since the NBA voted its top 50 greatest players of all time, and heading into 2010, that would have added an additional 14 years since we had 50 great players in 1996,my question is, since then who do you think we should add to that creme of the crop list if you are to choose the next 14 great players deserving to be added to this list...Send out your thought  :)

http://www.nba.com/history/players/50greatest.html

my list should add the following:

1. Kevin Garnett- without question one of the greatest forwards of his era

2. Tim Duncan- 4 rings should suffice

3. Tony Parker- could be borderline here but without him, there would be no title no.4 and he is finals MVP after all in 2007

4.Paul Pierce- He's got his ring and was the cornerstone of the Celtics even in the dog years

5. Ray Allen-Greatest shooter of his generation, without a ring though, he may not reach this list

6. Reggie Miller- no ring but unquestionably should be added to this list

7. Gary Payton- defensive specialist and All-star

8. Kobe Bryant- well, we all hate him but he still makes this list ofcourse

9. Steve Nash- 2 time former MVP

10. Dirk diggler Nowitzki- led his team to the 2006 Finals

11. Dwane Wade- one ring and a certified Stern favorite

12. Allen Iverson- superstar of his generation and former no.1 pick

13. Chauncey Billups- Led Detroit in 2004 finals

14. Lebron James- The king still needs to prove himself but even if he does not make this list now because he is still to enter his prime, the league now is annointing him the King so he will definitely come up in forthcoming list  of greats in the future.

notable ones that may or may not make the list to the next greatest players in the league.....Shawn Kemp, Rasheed Wallace,Grant Hill, Vince Carter,Yao Ming....I know I may have forgetten some or omitted some names..but the last 14 years there has only been 5 teams that have won the league..the Spurs 4, Fakers 3,boston 1, Miami 1,Bulls 3, detroit 1.

Kobe and Duncan are the only two I see on that list.

Multiple championships in addition to being a great player are my prerequisites.

So are you going to take Malone, Barkley, Stockton, Oscar Robertson, Archibald and other 0 or 1 title players off the already established top 50?

This was done in 2005-2006, so he wasn't there.  It would be tough to leave him off now though.

Nice Find. Maybe it's just me, but I think Kidd will lose his luster over time. Great passer and among career leaders in triple-doubles. But other than that, what has he done? I guess he made it to the Finals with the Nets, but that was more a function of a weak East than Kidd's greatness.

I realize Nash hasn't had anymore team success than Kidd (though you could argue his Suns' teams were legitimately robbed a couple times in the playoffs in the ultra-competitive West), but I'd put Nash on the list over Kidd. Nash, IMO, is a top 5 PG of all time (Magic, Stockton, Cousy, Isiah, Nash), which deserves inclusion on this Greatest 64 list.

Kick Dolph Schayes out. I bet he'd be no better than his son Danny , who stunk.

Don't forget for it to be 50 greatest, guys will have to leave for others to enter. So who's getting bounced from the 50 greatest list? and where is the list exactly anyways?

Yeah I only see KG, Kobe, and Duncan!

Maybe in 7-8 years Dwight, Dwade, Lebron, and CP3 might make it!

Sorry PP but you dont cut it.
